* I've never ordered onion rings in my entire life, but the best steak house in town (2 blocks from my house) serves them pre-appetizer/salad, and since there's no menu, they very suggestively....

"so, I'm gonna go ahead and bring out some onion rings, yeah?"

They're unreal. It's like a huge plate of shoestring fries.

link: Charlie's Steak House

* Just a reminder that Elly De La Cruz sucks...

* White people be like....

"omg. the ___________ museum was absolutely amazing. you could spend ALL DAY in there."

And yet they're in and out in 3 hours.

* Trips booked:

September = Poland (Krakow, Warsaw) / Germany (Berlin Marathon for the gal)
January = Chile (O Circuit, Patagonia)

* Criminally underrated David Allen Coe song.....

I can't see nothing but spotlights spotlights see nothing but me
All of my music is lonely yeah all of my heartaches were free
Don't waste your time or your flash bulbs too many heroes are dead
You like to live in the city yeah I like to live in my head
Somebody shoot out that spotlight spotlights ain't nothing but jive
Roll me a smoke and give me some coke treat me like I am alive
Tell all the ladies I'm single tell Lone Star beer that I'm dry
Everyone's lying bout livin' everyone's livin' a lie

* Rumors heating up that Jonathan India is on the trade block = eek.

Despite his monthlong struggle, he's looking like a .260, 25-homer, 25-stolen base second baseman. That's just what he is. Not as good as his rookie season, and not as bad as 2022. It may not feel like he's a really good player, but there aren't many players at his position putting up those stats.

Given that the Reds top 3 prospects are all infielders, he's expendable.

* Just a reminder how much money there is to be made in Culture Wars:

- the Barbie movie made $155 million last weekend, and already has over 100 marketing deals lined up for everything from car insurance to flip flops to hair products
- the religious right is paying it forward and saving children one ticket at a time to the tune of $100 million at the box office for Sound of Freedom
- Jason Aldean got cancelled so ferociously he's got the #1 downloaded song on iTunes right now.

They're making fools of all of us.

* Does Chase even post here anymore, or did he die in a fire?

This is an absolute gd layup for a massive class action suit. What is he even doing these days??!

Violently throwing up

If the stomach slows down too much, however, that can cause problems. Knight and Wright have been diagnosed with severe gastroparesis, or stomach paralysis, which their doctors think may have resulted from or been exacerbated by the medication they were taking, Ozempic. Wright said she has also been diagnosed with cyclic vomiting syndrome, which causes her to throw up multiple times a day.

Just a reminder from Big Pharma -- it's impossible to lose weight with diet and exercise. You can only do it with $1500/month drugs.

* Book rec: The Emerald Mile

About some random river rat/whitewater rafting guides who illegally hopped in a boat when the water was at an all-time high and set the speed record for the Grand Canyon.

* X 'gon give it to 'ya.

New Twitter slogan, or nah?

Onion rings are the last thing Tony, Carmella and AJ ate before being capped by the guy in the members only jacket and the other guy in the USA hat. Poor Meadow.

- Has been kinda cool seeing all the excitement and fun with Taylor Swift and Barbie this summer. From grown women to little girls. Can’t say I have a strong urge to see the movie but love the director. Ladybird is one of my favorite movies of the past 10 years.

- Polo Sport had some good gear back in the day. Just noticed some retro stuff back. May grab a sweatshirt.

- Speaking of, just bought a Bengals hoodie from Homage. Bring on football.

- It’s hot AF this week. Doesn’t stop my wife and mother-in-law from dressing like its 30 degrees at all times.

- Speaking of, wife is entering similar territory as my dad when it comes to birthday gifts. Every year, I buy my dad a UK/Reds/Bengals hat/shirt. Been doing this for 30 years. For my wife, I now just find some soft, oversized, overly expensive nondescript sweatshirt 3 sizes too big. She’ll wear it 365 days a year. Along with ridiculously expensive skincare products and nail salon giftcards.

- Checked out Jelly Roll songs - he’s absolutely awful - and the controversial Aldean song- it’s terrible but don’t understand the uproar. More nonsense.

- Terrible news about Bronny. Glad he’s ok.

The only thing I didn't like about Polo Sport was that the logo was never big enough.

You spend all that money and nobody even knows what brand you're repping. Kind of a waste.

Speaking of the Sopranos, it’s really odd when I see/learn a character and then can’t see them out of that character. Most of those Italian guys in that show fit the mode and they were in several mafia movies/shows after that, but any roles that break character and I just can’t follow.

Timothy Olyphant(Raylon Givens) is a perfect example today. His popularity landed him some other types of roles that all flopped so I can’t be the only one.

Charlie Hunnam(Jax Teller) is another example.

Was flipping around my 600 streaming services and happened upon Jury Duty on prime video. Quick 30 min comedy show - holy crap what a gem. Finished the 3rd episode and have been laughing to tears in a couple of them.

Saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall the other day and then stumbled upon a movie I totally forgot about Get Him to the Greek. Lots of solid scenes and even though I wasn’t a fan of Russel Brand in much he was perfect for Aldous Snow. Peak Rose Byrne as well

I like Onion Rings. Will get them over fries if available. Funny enough, raw onions are probably my least favorite food.

Central Ohio is BOOMING

Sold my house again in less than a week - hopefully it doesn’t fall through this time

10 year anniversary this Thursday. Holy **** that went fast. 3 kiddos, lots of other crap. Sometimes it feels like you’re living someone else’s life

I just started Gemstones this week, I'll probably be caught up by the next episode.

Absolute absurdity but it's obvious McBride grew up around this kind of stuff because some of it is based in reality.

Fairly certain a French basketball player that’s significantly worse than Jaylen Brown just got offered 700 million by the Saudi Arabian league (and no I’m not joking)

"Entourage" I always equated as a male version of "Sex and the City", both were on HBO about the same time and kind of a companion piece to the other. I watched both and am fine with them. Both shows were a fantasy for guys and gals of a certain age. I've been told that I'm ridiculous and SATC is much more than Entourage ever was. And I'm saying you can have the same debate with "Green Acres" vs. "Petticoat Junction" in comparing the merits of one to the other.

Steamed fresh brussel sprouts
Jaylen Brown signs the largest contract in NBA history.

In 2028-29, he'll be making $69.1 million 🤣 🤣

It's unreal how much salaries have skyrocketed in that spot. Good work if you can get it.

Enjoying the "but Jaylen Brown can't even dribble with his left" jokes on Twitter.

So one conspiracy, or coverup, I do believe is the effects COVID is having on people especially those that are athletes and exerting themselves to the max everyday.

The amount of odd cardiac arrest is insane and the defense articles that it had NOTHING to do with vaccines was weird when Demar Hamlin went down on live TV.

Personally I don’t care about the vaccine, but the myocartis(?) caused by COVID/vaccine is impacting these people and it’s obvious in all the cardiac arrest cases in what is otherwise unbelievably healthy humans.

I hope Bronny gets better and takes his time doing so.

- Jury Duty worked because of what a genuinely good guy the lead was.

- Forgetting Sarah Marshall is such an easy watch. Great setting. Segel is always awesome. Brand is terrific. Plus, Kristen Bell looks 🔥 in a bikini.

- White Guy with a Mustache And/Or Checklist:

* Born before 1970
* Zany Guy - wearing ironically but poking fun at himself
* Hipster - wearing ironically but taking himself very seriously
* Redneck
* Baseball pitchers
* Law Enforcement or Armed Forces
* Homosexual - close relation to hipster definition above

^ Any other considerations?

I respect wcc's babe takes as much as any, but we diverge on Kristen Bell. 🤮

My favorite exchange from Forgetting Sarah Marshall....

Paul Rudd: Yeah man, ever since I moved to Hawaii, I don't even wear a watch anymore.

Jason Segal: Really man? That's so cool.

Paul Rudd: Yeah, there's a clock on my phone so I just use that.

That one was jaw dropping, I agree. Hit you right in the heart and soul.

I saw an article that said ten things every man should do and one thing was west a watch you look important… I’ve never seen anyone wear a watch and thought that dude must be important. I think he doesn’t know his phone has the time…

Also interesting, how Russell Brand has gone from comedian to a Brit that pushes harder for US govt reform than anyone.

I haven't worn a watch since I was a little kid, same for jewelry of any kind. I never wear ties either. I also don't have any tattoos or piercings. I'm a plain *** honkey and I'm all right with that.

I am probably spot on w/ this one in regards to you and a watch....

-Onion rings are good. Better than fine but I'm not picking them over fries or tots.

-Sauteed onions are a staple with our burgers. Butter, onions, garlic. Simple and fantastic.

-Entourage had great moments, almost all with Ari, but it just felt like you'd never get those back. The biggest issue was the main character being AWFUL. Should've pivoted to being more focused on Ari and less Vince.

-Pilots are known for mustaches.

-Forecast calling for an Indian Summer. So buckle up, kankles.

-I like India but perfectly fine with dealing him. Leggo.

I need to add an asterisk to my Olyphant post.

Kelly from "The Girl Next Door" would be his #2 character.
