For maybe the first time since I became a parent my Xmas shopping is basically done by 12/1. Pretty great feeling. The kids lists were pretty easy. Had a couple of custom baseball accessories that needed to be ordered early, but other than that the kids provided us with very manageable items this year. Oldest is getting 90% baseball gear (custom elbow/leg guards, school team gear, etc). 11yo just wanted miscellaneous college and nba jerseys. Daughter wanted clothes/kid jewelry. And the baby is super into Daniel Tigers Neighborhood, so he’s getting a lot of Daniel merch.
Our elf returned this morning as well. That little rascal. My daughter (8) is the only who still buys this **** but her brothers begrudgingly go along with it on the occasions he brings them a treat. The baby will probably grab him and yeet him across the room at some point and she’ll have a heart attack. It’s totally annoying and I understand completely why non-parents rip on it, but the young kids absolutely eat that **** up.
I don’t use Spotify at all. I used to use Amazon music until they f*cked it all up. Now at work I’ll just sit in silence and ponder every decision I ever made.
I know I’m in the minority, but I like Kentucky’s tie-in to horse racing. It’s what makes Kentucky unique. UFlorida plays up their swamps. UTexas plays up their ranches. Why can’t we play up horse racing? In fact, I think the MVP of the governors cup should be draped in a shroud of roses like the derby winner. Lean into it. I even wish Kentucky was the thoroughbreds instead of the wildcats. What a lame Disney-channel-*** movie nickname. the checkerboards never bothered me either
