  • Chicken Korma, Garlic Naan, Samosa is my order every dhaba
  • Tomahawk steaks and all the fixins were a big hit for the graduating boys. Graduation tonight and West Point basic starts tomorrow… God bless these kids…
  • Grease fires are a real and present danger when searing high fatty meats on shallow cast iron. I had spitting vertical flames 18” off cooking surface. Wife was cleaning downstairs as I was doing my thing. No arm hair left, but that’s the sacrifice for the love of the craft. Tip: use butchers twine around fat cap to hold spinalis in place. 900cfm exhaust hood helps but didn’t stop smoke alarms triggering.
  • Remus Repeal Reserve V is MGP easy sipping goodness. Not proofy, but complex and spicy. My current favorite and go to.
  • So glad I didn’t coach little league this year…I dreamed of doing it last year I checked that life-lesson box. The kids on this years squad are slightly less crazy and self-centered than their parents. Christ these people are awful.
  • Brooks running shoes suck. Floppy pieces of ****.
  • Bike ride today with wife.
  • Golf Friday.

Don’t have a lot of experience but love some Mezcal.

Blanco: Casamigos or Casa Noble are great, smooth Blancos that are relatively easy to find.

Reposado: This tequila is slightly darker than blanco, basically aged in oak barrels. Very smooth but more of a sipper than blanco. I like the G4 Reposado the most. They are 4 brothers that are a big deal in the tequila world that joined forces and started this brand about 10 years ago. Got into this brand when I visited Sedona and all their tequilas are wonderful. Can sometimes be hard to find.

Anejo: Aged longer. Darker, richer. Can literally be substituted for bourbon in many cocktails or enjoyed on the rocks. Once again I really like G4. But Olmeca makes a great one that’s easier to find.

Mezcal: Heavy, smoky. More comparable to a peaty highlands scotch. The Casamigos is the easiest to find and also delicious.

All these are “higher end”, meaning they are around 50 bucks meaning they are the same cost as a pint of ****** bourbon. Worth a shot to branch out though.

I’ve been enjoying the Cakebread rosé. However, I’m about out and it’s not available online anymore. I can save you a bottle, Chad.

-just went a bit nuclear on someone at work...I'm *really* easy to work with but I can't abide abject ignorance. People love to spend my money. The good part is I'm usually pretty chill...so when I show my teeth people pay attention.

-been a minute, but pimms/lemonade is a helluva summer drink.

-lamb Rogan Josh or chicken 65 is my go to...nothing wrong with a nice saag as well. Downgraded to American hot as the esophageal issue spooked me a bit.

-need to get a late summer trip booked soon...maybe Watauga Lake* or Charleston*. Possible Bavarian trip as well due to our 50th bdays...wife is waffling**.

*nothing new but never disappoints.

**next fall will be 25 years of marriage so we may put off Europe til then...if the world doesn't end and were not in a depression.

-**** got *loud* last night...can't wait for @Bonzo Cat to join the fray. The clown is a solid trumpeter.

-Segunda (suck it Ron and PTI) got the clown and wyvern each separately with the old "have you heard from them lately?" DEEZ NUTS!

^see, there is hope for the future, gang.

- Wife and I are going to tour 4-Roses while the kids are at a Southern Baptist mission camp.

A lot of irony here. What day? So they release a single barrel/barrel strength recipe almost every week on a Wednesday or Thursday around 11:00 or so. Get one if you are there at that time. About $90 but worth it. Geese and I just took an early lunch and got one. I think I'm sitting on about 12 bottle of it right now.

- Since Thanksgiving, with all our issues we face, my wife has destroyed my bourbon collection. I still have 100 or so bottles left, but whether is was King of Kentucky or regular old blantons she went through more than I care to count.

- While in St Augustine my nephew was trying to teach me about tequila. About everything said above was what he was saying. Oddly enough the day I got back from vacation I had a meeting with some folks wanting to help me start Down Home Tequila and took a pass, but one of the guys I brought with me took the bait hook line and sinker so I suspect he’ll be pushing it soon.

Apparently there are tequila groups like there are bourbon groups.

- Finally have a primary care physician. Steroids and muscle relaxers before suggesting physical training.

Already set to get full exercising regimen. It’s been too damn long!

- Cubs suck. Looked at a box score the other day and didn’t recognize a single name after winning the World Series just 6 years ago.

- Watched some NBA Draft coverage last night as I passed out, but they predicted 2 guys to my Memphis Grizzlies I don’t know a thing about. Ousame Dieng and Jaden Hardy.

Really liked them both for what they are and being in the 22-29 range.

- One day, regardless of Mitch, we are losing Stoops. It’s inevitable when a big school comes for him or even the NFL. Focusing on appreciating it while it’s here.

- Just landed a contractor in FL that has now been awarded an apartment complex and 4 restaurants this week. Interested to see if he and I can make this happen and start my transition. With one local guy and several national clients I am as mobile as I can be, but I can not leave our insurance. Didn’t even realize my plan in the open market was 2400 a month when I’m paying 600 now.

That’s one hell of a nut to cover!

I would say there are only about 20 jobs better than UK at this moment in time. Prob half of those would never make sense for him (Oregon, Texas, etc). Others are set at head coach for a long time (Ohio st, USC, UGA, etc). To me, the only ones worth watching are Michigan, Iowa, and Fl St.

False.

Was gonna include you on my 4-Roses vertical tasting of all 10 recipes but NOWNOTSOSURE.

FWIW, they had an OBSO release today. Red fruit forward flavor with the rye/spice finish. Delicious. The O and V yeast strains are by far my fav.
We both know you'll include me.

OESO Barrel Strength was the best bottle of bourbon I ever purchased. I'm not sure I can imagine a bourbon tasting better. I bought two and sold one immediately. Only bottle I've ever sold, and I've kicked myself for it ever since tasting the one I kept.

The Obi-Wan series was pretty badass in my opinion. I've liked most every star wars movie/series though.

Rose is just okay. Feel free to put that on t-shirts.

It's hard to beat a cold beer for summertime boozing. Pretty much any actual beer will do as Ling as it's cold.

Shandies can go get butt pumped.

Arch Manning to Texas. Thought we might have a chance.

- My nephew was at the Texas camp with Arch a few weeks back and didn't think he was that good. That cocky little **** is wrong about this one. Can show Arch what he has this weekend at the Manning Passing Academy.

The state of Texas is coming for all of CFB’s things. Deeeeep pockets + regional allegiances + resources + recruiting base = all of the top talent.

Texas will be the new Alabama. *Bookmark this for freezing cold takes if you need to.*

That’s fine, I get the idea of Stoops never leaving, and I certainly am not here to doom and gloom. But like I said I’m enjoying every minute of it while it’s here.

Agree on 4roses O and V. Prefer the OESV over everything else they do myself. Just checked and that’s a group of bottles I no longer have. Sad.

Our next venture for warehousing and bottling is on the Taylorsville/Cox Creek line so maybe I’ll be able to restock those soon.
