The very thought of a GYERO Bridge Club, with all the redass and chirping, makes me chuckle. 😂

You all are starting to get up there in age. It’s the next logical step in your evolution.
I was thinking about this today - not bridge so much - but the evolution of interests and activities as you age. When you're young, you look forward to them (for example, going to bars regularly). When I was in my late 20's it was joining a club and playing golf. But at a certain age the excitement of doing these "adult" or "older person" things transcends into fear. For example, bridge. That's just a small step away from Bingo night and then death. Frightening.

BBdK is really into his bowling league.

My oldest friend in the world is a Steelers fan, and his absolute misery about all of this is gold.

Steeler fans that have no geographic connection to them, along with Packer, and Cowboy fans are the absolute worst.

my only saving grace re:the Packers, is that they were absolute dog **** for 2 decades after I started pulling for them, so I paid my dues etc. Cowboy and Steeler fans are THE definition of bandwagon dickheads.
Living anywhere in Kentucky outside of northern Kentucky means you have ZERO geographical relation to any NFL franchise. None.

The people of Cincinnati have as much respect for the state of Kentucky as Kentuckians have for Indiana.

Bengals fans deserve to enjoy this moment. However, anyone can piss off with the notion that we should support that fuking city.

I just look at it as life running it’s course. I think learning new things throughout life actually helps keep you MORE youthful.

Yeah, bridge IS an old person’s game (it is NOW anyway, it wasn’t always) but anything that makes you exercise your mind, gets you out, and away from couch/TV is going to be beneficial, in spite of the stigma.

Side note - Was really cool to take HIM to the game instead of the other way around. We have season tickets we split but there was something neat about that experience of paying it back. Cmon John, let’s make a f*cking run - being a drunk idiot college kid, I didn’t fully appreciate the importance of that bond in 2012 and need to make sure we get the experience again.
My parents took me to see UK win it in 1978. It was very gratifying to return the favor and take my mom in 1996 and my dad in 2012. (1998 was all buddies).

Since then, I've been *dying* to take my son and pass the torch. Plans made, just need the Cats to take care of business. And I think they will.

Always wanted to learn bridge. Parents played. One of the few things my parents did together.
With dad's passing, mom had bridge at least once a week, and some bowling.

85 year old mom recently had a stroke and will probably not play again. It is one of the few things she had, other than attending grandkids sporting events. Prior to stroke, she could already tell her sharpness was off. Friend mentioned to my sister that she was slowing down and her partners could tell. All that play with her are in the same age range so it probably reminds them of their own mortality.

I’d be happy for a guy like Willy but Chumps and others remaining miserable cunts is very enticing.

^ That might hold as much or more sway than being happy for Willy.

My parents were in a couples bridge club, but my Mom was apparently the stronger player. She was also in two other women’s only clubs. I remember her playing several times a month, and sometimes she’d host.

I just know that the only time we got “Coke” in the house was when she was having them over. That, and the house got filled with cigarette smoke (neither of my parents drank or smoked, but those old women in her club did both, with abandon)

Yep. Wake up to stale chips, peanuts and scent of creme de menthe.

When dad died, the only reason she kept the country club membership was for bridge.

Props to the NFL on the opening of the Super B. The fly over, the songs and performances. When we see it done well, it reminds why we are unified by music and patriotism.

Kudos also to the NFL players singing the national anthem.
