* I like how balanced our scoring is. Even without our second highest scorer last night, we totaled 86 with no one scoring more than 14.
We've got at least seven guys who can get 20+ on a given night. Hopkins or Collins may get there by March, too. That should (in theory) make us a tough out in the tourney. Like Hatboggan said earlier, it is nice to see us get 86 even when we shot 8% from the three point line in the first half.
* Have we had a game since Duke with a full roster? I can't recall this many guys having one or two game injuries so early in a season. Sort of weird. I guess it gives Cal a chance to experiment with lineups. I wish that experimentation involved leaving Ware on the bench and giving Hopkins those minutes.
* After the first substitutions, it seemed like Cal did a better job of keeping at least three scorers on the floor last night -- especially with Brooks and Mintz out and Toppin needing to get back in the flow.
* I'm rooting for Duke to go 35-1 with a loss to Butthole State in the second round to properly send Coach K out to pasture. Hopefully the crying Duke kid from years back is in attendance and he weeps again for the cameras.
* Big Oscar continues to average more rebounds than our leading scorer does points. If he pulls that off for the season (and it is shockingly possible) that will be incredibly impressive.
* Louisville was a three point favorite as of yesterday. I know the game is at Papa John's Stadium but that still seems unreal the day before the game. I don't know what I'm missing. We've only got one bad loss and that was on the road to Mike Leach. Louisville's 6-5 against a bad ACC.
Weird.
Hopefully Levis comes out to start the game like this brass-balled hero:
