Gary Patterson fired at TCU

🙀

Definitely a no win situation for TCU, as he’s had a rough last 4 years, but are virtually guaranteed to hire someone who won’t be nearly as successful.

I’d hire that guy in a freaking heartbeat. It will be interesting to see who scoops him up. Note to self: strike while the iron is hot.

Moby Dick sucks.

Stay away from Hemingway as well. It's like reading a 6th grader.

Stick with the Russians.
Dostoyevsky is one of the GOATs. The Brothers Karamazov is a top 5 novel ever. On the other hand, I hated Hemingway with every fiber of my being every time I was forced to read his dreck in college. If you’re going American, go Twain and Vonnegut.

Jane Eyre is underrated, Pride and Prejudice is way overrated. Use your words, Darcy, you *****.

I named my cat Ophelia because Hamlet is unreal but MacBeth is definitely the GOAT Shakespeare tragedy. I want to revisit King Lear when I’m an old and see how it hits them versus how it did as a college pretzel.

The one (only?) point where I’ve always wildly diverged from the Clown (and Pretzel now) is Hemingway. He is my goat. No matter how bad I am feeling, I can always open up The Sun Also Rises and feel better.

And different strokes for different folks.
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo-bee etc.

But Pretzel, you would be pleased to learn I just ordered a new hardback of Ulysses. Haven’t looked at it since high school. Looking forward to it. A lot.

I thought Blood Meridian was fine, but nothing that made me want to go further into the McCarthy catalog. A little bleak for me (but that was like 15 years ago so I should give him another shot). The professor who assigned that one was kind of a snotty turd and didn’t like Catch 22, which is an all time favorite of mine, so she can get pumped. I lumped McCarthy with her unfairly.

Probably because she was a snotty ******* who was teaching at a small undergrad in East TN and trying to flex about how she went to Dartmouth. No one gives a hoot down here, ho. She was also personally offended when I didn’t like the garbage *** poetry she assigned (and she only knew that because she asked me point blank why I was so quiet, soooo…) I honestly loved every other professor in that department, but when she told me she wasn’t thrilled with my choice of Catch 22 and Slaughterhouse Five for a capstone paper, I quit even pretending to give a crap about her class.

(yes I was a nerd and loved college for the academics)

I haven’t read a book for enjoyment in literally 20 years. I wouldn’t mind, I used to enjoy it the 5 times I ever did it, but wouldn’t really even know where to begin. There are too many damn books out there.

Pretzel, there were a lot of similar types at chase. Very frustrating. But the thing there is, it’s one of the worst law schools imaginable. So a great comeback was always “so why the F**k are you teaching here.” They never had a good answer.

Congrats, Dick face. You did such a good job at law, you’re teaching agency and partnerships in highland heights.

Can we all agree Wuthering Heights is the worst piece of literature ever?
Awful. A close second is The Dollmaker. My high school english teacher (who was awesome) told us the book was intentionally boring and dismal to reflect the protagonist's life.

There was a reason she was an english teacher and didn't sell cars.
