How about just a shade of empathy for those that might not be in as good of a situation?

No suggestions... or "You should do this"... or "Maybe you shouldn't have done that".... just a little empathy for those that are struggling.

Probably a great time. You don't have to be in a union to drive a truck.
That is true, if you possess your own tractor trailer. Most trucking companies are union though.

So now you are recommending people take months worth of classes and finance $100k+ on equipment (low end) to make up for losing their bartending job.

-Not in the mood today. You say stupid ****, you're getting roasted.

-Downloaded Mario Kart to brush up on my gaming skills before G gets a switch. Need a few years of dominance until he destroys me. Pretty fun app on the old cellular phone.

-Pushed the 100# dbs 15, 10xs yesterday. Boom.

-Completely spaced on the pickem league, f*ck.

-Opted for a NYT subscription today. Been annoyed that I can't read any newspaper without one, and seems like NYT is probably the most consistent, at least I know about how far left it leans. The local papers can get f*cking pumped.

-Restaurants employee a **** ton of people and shove a ton of money into the economy. Like Hank said, also one of the great mental escapes. To poopoo that is pretty ****** up.

-Grandfather was a truck driver, also a huge piece of trash, but I'd go with him on daily routes pretty often as a real little guy. Was a hoot back then. Playing on the CB, bouncing around the cab, take a nap in the back if I was tired. Think about that life every once in awhile while on the interstate, long haul only, be neat to see the country, but I'm sure it would get old really quick.

Not at all. Trucking is a good indicator of the broader economy. In May, the trucking market was depressed. Right now it's as hot as it ever was. Manufacturing, housing, etc., is actually in a decent spot right now. My point was that just because the F&B industry is getting crushed, it doesn't mean everything else is down.

I am very sympathetic towards F&B workers and owners. I think they should continue to provide some stimulus, but at some point we're going to have to realize that a lot of those jobs aren't coming back - even post-vaccine.

And PTI, I am extremely sympathetic towards folks in tourist areas. If your clients are struggling - thereby hurting you - I apologize for being insensitive about it.

Housing market is taking it on the chin right now, which will show up when the numbers come out.

Lumber is up 300%, code required materials are not available, labor is unavailable, finance terms are getting tighter. Several builders stopped taking new contracts because of the price and material volatility.

Nobody wants to become a landlord right now because people aren't paying their rent and cant be evicted.

***** going to get real ugly this winter.

-Say stupid **** and get roasted shouldnt be saved for bad moods...All day everyday.

-nintendo switch is a fantastic little system...hand held - but pop in in the holder and boom, immediately on the big screen.

- you wont have years on dominance unless you continue to put the work in....these youngsters are too good on the sticks. Not your daddy’s rainbow road

Mario Kart Live Home Circuit looks incredible. You set up a track in your home and a physical Mario Kart with a camera zips around your house and shows up on the screen.

And I’m doing everything in my power to keep my kids from knowing it exists until it is readily available for its MSRP and not $250 on eBay.

Papa drove a truck nearly all his life
You know it drove mama crazy being a trucker's wife
The part she couldn't handle was the being alone
I guess she needed more to hold than just a telephone
Papa called Mama each and every night
Just to ask her how she was and if us kids were alright
Mama would wait for that call to come in
When Daddy'd hang up then she was gone again
Mama was a looker
Lord, how she shined
Papa was a good'n
But the jealous kind
Papa loved Mama
Mama loved men
Mama's in the graveyard
Papa's in the pen

Pops drove a truck for 35+ years. While the lifestyle it requires can be absolutely brutal it was one of the best careers in Eastern Kentucky to consistently work and raise a family without a degree (few factory jobs, mining work was very spotty, etc).

As a kid we kept an old CB and antennae hooked up at the house and I would listen to all the goings-on on channel 19. Now THOSE conversations will make a kid grow up fast.

I read this as a nicely put insult to Deputy Dog.

Families,

Thank you for your efforts in helping us have a successful, on-campus start of school. We have only seen small and sporadic COVID-19 cases at our Kentucky campuses and those cases have been traced to contacts that have taken place outside of our school buildings. This is due in large part to your commitment to the mitigation strategies we put in place at the beginning of school, as well as the creation of a team atmosphere in order for our students to be in-school and in-person.
As you may be aware, positive cases in our area are on the rise. As a result of this, we are mandated (Click for Executive Order) by Governor Beshear to move to Remote Learning beginning Monday, November 23. We are determined to return to in-person instruction as soon as possible. We are looking at all options in order to return quickly and safely.

Lumber is way down though and still dropping, rates are still low too.

This has been the busiest 4 month stretch I’ve ever had.

The bigger box builders like Pulte, Ball etc stopped, but custom guys are crushing it right now.

DR Horton is coming to Louisville right now though which will have its affect in one of the most competitive markets just about anywhere.

All that said, moving back up from 2.5% interest rates is going to feel like a death sentence and you are right, eventually we will stall out again.

Part of why I want out before that happens.

- Spent the week visiting friends in LA and driving PCH from LA to Bay Area. Just incredible. Nice to get out of the work related COVID craziness and pressure.

LA to Santa Barbara to Big Sur to Carmel in 6 days. Beautiful. Obviously the areas have been hit hard by COVID but it’s at least easier to do outdoor dining when it’s this climate.

Also got engaged, so there’s that.

- sorry to hear what ol Andy has done to you guys, and this morning Nashville’s Mayor Cooper dipped his toes in, “limiting” gatherings to 8 people or less. Didn’t do anything with schools and restaurants and service industry...yet.

So dumb. So poorly handled. No science quoted or even referenced.

-I’m in this s*** every day taking care of these patients in the OR, and my fiancé is even more involved—an NP at Vandy who works in the COVID ICU, on a lung transplant team, was insteumental in setting up Vandy’s initial testing and response in the ER and Nashville’s response as a whole with logistics of testing sites, backup hospital, etc...so I have a pretty damn good frame of reference for this.

It sucks that hospitalization rates are high and cases growing, that was bound to happen with winter and COVID fatigue...BUT unless they start cancelling elective surgeries and telling us hospitals are beyond capacity (they’re not), we can’t just destroy society.

Wear your mask, wash your hands, take the precautions you can as we surge...but people can use their own brains.

AND GET THE DAMN VACCINE!

Oh I think everyone is feeling fatigue.

Screw student loan forgiveness, PPP, etc. Congress should send everyone $10,000 and tell us all- EVERYONE- to take a nap for a few months and after that we’ll start over. Everyone is cranky, and before we all start saying things we don’t really mean let’s all just chill out for a bit and come back fresh.

That’s the Powerrr Plan.

I thought that was flop sweat, fake tanner edition, but rudd, you're right.

Speaking of aging gracefully, if any of the draft announcers last night were attempting that, ESPN did them dirty. That was the most atrocious yellow lighting I've ever seen outside of a Netflix show where everyone's stage makeup gets an orange-yellow cast. And that was more remarkable than that draft. Oof.

I left my last firm in large part because there were two partners beyond their expiration date running the show and I was tired of being their malpractice watchdog. Hang it up, Rudy.

Rudy may be a crazy old coot but he did take down the mob and clean up NYC.

If you are going to call him senile, and he likely is, then you should also acknowledge that another person in the news has mental health issues.

Rudy Giuliani is a senile cuck *****. Let's be real honest about that before anyone lauds the sack of **** as anything else.

F that guy, man. Have had enough. Thanks.

So you're a fan of the current NYC situation instead....not surprised.
