Congrats, Chad. Congrats, BRax.

Mount Sterling is an okay town. It's the residents of the town that are the **** Show. They love their Court Days, their $.79 Polar Pops, and their drama.

Celtics-Heat will be a helluva series, assuming Boston finishes the deal with Toronto.

Actually, the Court Days in Preston are better. Might be a culture shock for some (including my wife), but it's still going on this October while they canceled the Mt Sterling edition.

Rondo won't be an NBA HoF'er, but that dude has had a helluva run in the pros. Big game tonight for the Lakers. If they win the title, he'd have to be in very short company of guys who've won a ring with Boston and the Lakers.

Billy Donovan out at OKC. Let the rumors fly!

I agree with this. And I'm open to understanding the issues, but so far I just don't "get it." Probably need someone to explain it to me like I'm 5 because I'm not going to learn about it through twitter diatribes and guilt trips that have no association to me.

I guess the issue is that it seems like the vast bulk of this is just the wokesters playing language games to intentionally trap people into something that is supposedly offensive.

* Congrats, Hatboggan!

$125,000 - $60,000 (tuition) = $65,000
$150,000 - $60,000 (tuition) = $90,000

Divide that over 4 years, and each tween is being budgeted $1350-$1875/month beyond their tuition.

Jesus H Christ. How do I get on that gravy train?? Spoiled AF.

Bless your heart. Tuition is less than half the total cost of attending.

Total tuition and fees for two for 4 years, assuming 5% annual increase = $120,000
Total room and board for two for 4 years, assuming 5% annual increase = $140,000

That's best case because a 5% annual increase in costs is optimistic based on historical trends. So, yeah, $250k-$300k is about right.

We're doing the same math, hoss.

So, once you've paid their tuition of ~ $60,000 over 4 years, you're budgeting another $1350-$1875/month for "living expenses."

It's your money, so do with it as you please. But it sounds like the TWEEONZ are living the freaking dream in college.

* If "full cost of attendance" includes the student not having a job, and the parent paying for every single textbook, meal, car insurance, gas, transportation to and from school, rent, utilities, cell phone, spring break trip, fraternity dues, clothes, football tickets..... 🤮

Did anyone on this board get that deal from their parents?

Congratulations Poppa Chad! Remember, it's not an official GYERO birth unless a regular poster performs medical care on the mother.

Shout out to UKSwimmer...where ever you are.

-had a part time job(bad idea) freshman year at CB&T. Oldham lumber sr year...worked breaks for the family business. Paid for frat dues and booze etc., folks covered everything else...because they could.

-living on campus freshman-sophomore year is integral to the college experience. After that its optional but still have to pay rent somewhere.

For budget purposes, "full cost of attending UK" includes tuition, fees, dorms, meals, and books. Those things alone get us to the $260k. Those other things we'll figure out as they come. Always better to over-budget and under-spend than under-budget and over-spend.

I don't believe it costs that much to attend UK. I mean, it probably it does, but I just refuse to accept that it has happened and people aren't literally marching on campus with pitchforks.

The better ways to spend $150k (even on teenagers) as opposed to paying for state school are almost innumerable

Ah, yes. The moment a child graduates from high school, the burden of “food” and “shelter” becomes necessary for survival. Previously these pesky needs were free.

Not free... but generally provided by parents/guardians. Obviously, if you are from Lexington and can continue to live at home those wouldn't be "in addition to" expenses. But most people aren't from the city they go to school.

For 20-21, per student:

Tuition and fees12,484
Housing (Lewis Hall)9,368
Dining plan (All Access Blue)4,200
Books2,000
Total28,052

They don't enroll until 22-23, so assuming 5% annual growth, it will be 30,927 at that time. Continue 5% annual growth for 4 years and you get a total cost of 133,300.

Undergrad full tuition ride + KEES money. Parents gave me $500/semester. Anything else I was on my own. Can’t even remember all the **** jobs I had, studies I signed up for, tutoring, etc.

Even with in-state med school, with the lovely 6.8% federal loan rate for tuition and living expenses, since you can’t work during school; then residency trying to make minimum payments so interest doesn’t completely topple you...still left with >250k. Not to mention the interest that continued to accrue in residency. Scam.

I mean it’s my fault, I made the decisions. But looking back I had no idea WTF I was doing, and that 6.8% is a damn joke.

Goal is to have it all paid back by end of 2022. Then I’m throwing a hell of a party.

Most of these places throw some "marketing" scholarships and grants at just about everyone, right? As long as we were in school and doing well they paid for school, cell phone and car insurance, We paid rent/R&b, food, bar tabs. They'd occasionally pay off our CC unknowingly. Those were fun nights.

They'll both probably get a little scholarship money, but UK is pretty stingy, so not sure how much. Not counting on it. KEES will probably be about $1k per kid per year, which is a drop in the bucket, but something. I doubt we'll get any financial aid. They're taking the ACT next month, so that will be a factor obviously.

I got a check at the 1st of every month for $350. What I did with that was up to me, but once my parents paid tuition, that was it. Food, beer money, frat dues, gas, car insurance, utilities, cell phone, internet, spring break, textbooks....that was completely on me. It's amazing what a college kid can afford when he actually has a job. Leaves them infinitely more prepared for the real world, too.

***IF*** I set up a CFB pick’em against the spread for 10 games each week, 7 SEC games plus the best B12/ACC...assume I could count on a few folks from here? Looking at $100/person.

Goal is to pay out the winners (top 3 ideally) each week then top 3 at end of year get big money. Only worth it if I can get a large number of people.
