We didn’t split with UNC in 2012 because UNC was #1 in the AP and Coaches preseason poll.

We were #2 in both, same as this year. GOOD SIGN I GUESS!

That's funny to look back on, because UNC never even played a part in my movie after we beat them in December.

Most confident about a UK team I've ever been in my life. When ya know, ya know. Would like to feel that at least once more in my lifetime.

Going all the way back to 1939, NCAA Tourney champs that had the most losses during the season:

1988 Kansas 28-11

1985 Villanova 25-10
1983 NC State 26-10

1997 Arizona 25-9
1981 Indiana 26-9
2011 UConn 32-9

2014 UConn 32-8

1977 Marquette 25-7
1989 Michigan 30-7
1986 Louisville 32-7
1991 Duke 32-7
2000 Mich State 32-7
2017 North Carolina 33-7

1958 Kentucky 23-6
1979 Mich State 26-6
2004 UConn 33-6
2006 Florida 33-6

All sixty-something other champs had 5 or fewer losses for the year.

Most of the high-loss champions came in the 1980s (1981, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989).

Other than UConn (three times!), most champions in the last 20 years have had 5 or fewer losses.

Putting the same results in a different way:

Years in which teams won the NCAA Tourney while having more than 5 losses:

1958 Kentucky (6 losses)

1977 Marquette (7 losses)
1979 Mich State (6 losses)

1981 Indiana (9 losses)
1983 NC State (10 losses)
1985 Villanova (10 losses)
1986 Louisville (7 losses)
1988 Kansas (11 losses)
1989 Michigan (7 losses)

1991 Duke (7 losses)
1997 Arizona (9 losses)

2000 Michigan State (7 losses)
2004 UConn (6 losses)
2006 Florida (6 losses)

2011 UConn (9 losses)
2014 UConn (8 losses)
2017 North Carolina (7 losses)

I would just like our team to play with urgency on both sides of the ball. Look to create turnovers, get out in transition. Be the aggressor. Play fast and loose. Attack the basket and look to score.

Play like Cal is sitting in the stands and you can’t hear what he’s yelling at you. Play off your instincts. Play some “DDMO” basketball.

We just kind of go through the motions out there, like some practice simulation thing. Ok, now dribble fifty times while you stare at this guy running around two picks. Ok now pass him the ball. Good. Now stare at the post guy for 5 seconds and try to give it to him. Ok now look at me yelling at you. OK shot clock is low GOOOOOO!

Is there a reasonable scenario that makes us a clear cut favorite this year?

Keldon or Baker staying?

If we had a sophomore Keldon Johnson starting at the 3 and then playing the 4 at crunch time in the (conservatively) 50% of games when EJ Montgomery stares into his navel and takes up air, that would probably be enough to do it by itself.

But instead he was barely drafted in the first round and is in the G League.

wcc too often overthinks or tries to outsmart himself, and this "knocking on the door" nonsense is just that. If that's the tried and true formula, then it doesn't explain why Kevin Ollie has as many national championships as John Calipari. It doesn't explain how Tony Bennett can win a title 1 year after being the first team to ever lose to a 16 seed. It doesn't explain how Billy Donovan, whose teams were annually known for their Charmin soft defense and early tournament exits could win back-to-back. Or how you constantly point out all of Coach K's March letdowns -- and he's got five.

Especially in today's game, this year's team has nothing to do with last year's. Quit trying to be the smartest poster in the room, wcc.

My diabetic dog is now going blind. I heard a loud bonk last night and looked up to see that he walked into the wall at the corner of my room nowhere close to the door. We have to give him eye drops four times per day plus two shots a day. He costs me more a week than any of my children. And if any of you sons of bitches advise me to put him down I’ll fight you.

Ya'll are missing the obvious, in Rupp you can hear Cal scream at you before shooting and in other gyms the floppy banged ******** drown him out.

The further we get away from 12' the more I appreciate them and realized that despite what KSR says, they were the best team of the Cal era. Not just because they won the title but because the pieces fit together so perfectly and they had the best player maybe in school history. If we are being honest, 10' and 15' were loaded with talent but flawed in the way the puzzle pieces fit.

I will give you good news. We went through the drops regimen until our dog lost both eyes to glaucoma last summer. We thought we'd need to put her down, vet urged us not to, said she'd adapt.

6 months later, it is amazing how well she gets around. Goes up and down steps at near full speed, navigates the house and goes in and out the dog door and around the yard. And generally seems calmer and happier.

Bumps into stuff in a funny way, but overall she's doing great.

Stopped reading when you listed UL as the 1989 champion. Surely you weren't dumb enough to do it twice.

My senior blind and deaf dog is great, considering...She knows her surroundings/yard. You will forget she’s blind.

What are the eye drops for? That sounds like a waste.

Also didn’t know dogs got ‘beetus. Must be a purebred thing?

My dog's eyes went from cloudy / beginning state cataracts to glaucoma with a quickness - so lots of pressure on one of the eyes and the drops are for that. He was in a lot of pain.

Dogs apparently do not get type II so my not-fat-at-all mixed breed rescue poodle mix came across type I naturally.
