Am I surprised Arizona lost by a billion, yes. Am I surprised they lost, no. They, like the rest of the PAC-12, are softer than the other side of my pillow which I will sleep soundly on tonight.

So College Basketballs, what is a comp for Buffalo?

Just glancing at thier schedule and especially their non-conference schedule their losses are to UC, TAMU, Syracuse, St. Bonnie, and South Dakota State.

They sure as hell aren't chumps

So talked about this with Coolcat (rip) and JDrum last night on Twitter.

Amazingly enough, this will be only the 5th time in the last 20 years Kentucky has played a double digit seed after the first round.

1999- 10 Seed Miami (OH) with Wally Szczerbiak Sweet 16
2002 - 12 seed Tulsa 2nd Round
2010 - 12 seed Cornell Sweet 16
2017 - 10 seed (LOL) Wichita State 2nd Round
2018 - 13 seed Buffalo

Meanwhile 2011 Kansas went 16-9-12-11 and STILL missed the Final Four.

Ridiculous how the UK bracket plays to seed almost every year.

* I'm sure the basketball diehards will have an actual breakdown, but I'm not sure you can truly draw anything relevant from last night's game. They were insane. Had Arizona on the ropes, and just kept bombing 3s and hitting everything. Banking in shots, getting every lucky break, etc. As wcc pointed out, it's hard to play like that twice in a row.

* Sorry for the drama, wcc --> but my take on the annual whinefest is that you don't really know what your draw is until the games play out. If Kentucky fans had two major gripes, it was....

#1 = drawing the criminally underseeded, ridiculously hot, insanely talented Arizona team......who lost.
#2 = a potential Sweet 16 matchup agains the #1 overall seed.....who needs 2 wins without a key player before even meeting us

Ya just never know.

* This bracket is already wide open, imo.

Question for Smart Fan --> where do Cincy and Tennessee stack up against other 2/3 seeds? I thought that was actually a fortunate break on the bottom of the bracket.

* Watched the early games at Buffalo Wild Wings yesterday. 2/3 of the tvs were on random college sports (womens softball, wrestling, etc), NFL nonsense, or the bulbs were so bad in the projector you couldn't see the screen. They sure do love basketball in the Deep South!!!

* The Matt Jones pre and post game show is :fire::fire::fire:.

* Hami was all over the gd place on D yesterday. Deflections stat, ftmfw.

* I did a little analysis from commentary, postgame shows, sideline interviews, and such. All 68 teams in the field....

- were playing with a chip on their shoulder
- were trying to silence the haters
- the committee screwed them over
- were playing the underdog role
- playing with nothing to lose
- everyone picked against them

:joy:. Anyone catch OSU's Chris Holtmann right after the game? Popping his collar with that **** eating grin and calling out all the sportswriters that picked against him. Gotta be tough being such an underdog!!

* Trae Young was 3-9 from deep. Really?? I swear I saw him launch at least a dozen from 35+ feet in the 2nd half alone.

* 5:15pm tip on Saturday. F'ing perfect. Go Cats!

Yeah, they look mis-seeded to me. Their resume looks like a 10 or 11 seed. All of their three conference losses were close road losses, and as you said, their non-conference losses were to tournament teams. Sure it's great not to have to play Ayton, but we're in for a war. The team better not get comfortable.

If we can handle Arkansas on the road we should handle Buffalo. Arizona player 0 defense. Won’t be the case Saturday.

Will Wade is saltier than the bottom of a bag of Tostitos, and I, for one, enjoy the crap out of it. He didn't look at a piece of paper once during this entire rant.
[laughing]

"It is what it is. I take exception... I'm glad we got a win for the fans... It's just a win over a team, and we're moving forward...

"Coach, what shots did ULL take at you--"

-Our 1st half D :fire: Gracious. We flat wore them out.

-Shai has his worst game in the last month 19pts, 8rebs, 7asst, 5steal :scream:

-Out athlete-ing us is going to be tough. We play those teams a bunch. Get hot from 3 and anyone can beat anyone on a given day.

-Everyone looks faster and more athletic when they're trying. Guess the drama finally caught up with Zona.

-Solid first day. Couple good upsets, some really entertaining games, Cats won.

-Hami had a really good Hami game. Super active the first 5 minutes.

-Even if Miller somehow makes it through the summer, I doubt it, they're going to be brutal moving forward. Rawle, Ayton and Trier are gone. They lost every recruit and not much left to grab. Talk about a bunch of talent walking through @aplayersprogram without much to show.

-Props to the guy from Davidson, gritty/bearded/little chubby, for badly missing 2 wide open crucial 3's. to the Cats for allowing them to backdoor cover.

-Looks like the GYERO: Biggest Loser contest is not going well. Have any of you actually lost weight?

A 100k is a lot of money to drop for a first round tourney exit.

If Buffalo can manage 15 3's against us then tip your hat to them.

Thanks for participating PAC 12

* No, Buffalo was not mis-seeded. Christ. They played nobody. They beat nobody. We're gonna roll these nerds.

Says the guy that did a Pi run on 3/14. Jesus Christ.

-GYERO coming through again, with the best analysis anywhere. At least, some of you. Okay, maybe a few of you. The rest, stop.

-What was the last bad SEC basketball hire? Even Cuonzo did better than I expected after losing Porter. Drew lost a lot but is bringing in elite talent. Will Wade is a fireball, and exactly the juice that LSU needed. Adding Kermit and Crean to the roster just makes it that much stronger, top to bottom. No nights off, strategy-wise.

-The Len Elmore/Steve Smith tandem is just useless. I have zero issue with any of the NCAA PBP guys, but the roster of analysts has gotten so stale, it's ridiculous. I know my love for Westwood One radio is corny, but they have a slew of guys I prefer listening to over Elmore/Smith: Will Perdue is good, as are PJ Carlesimo and Donny Marshall. Better insights, and they don't sound half-asleep the whole time.

In a related note, I have no idea what Jim Spanarkel does the rest of the year. He's like the Punxsutawney Phil of sports media.

-Was hoping the Buffalo win would bump the Kentucky game to the earlier window tomorrow, but nope....it falls squarely during the Sweet 16 session that I bought my Dad tickets to for Christmas. He's been so excited to go, so we'll be sitting and enjoying our ice creams, hoping that Kentucky puts the thing away by the 16:00 mark of the 2nd half so that we can focus on the on-court action.

-NMSU over Clempson.

Really want to see what Porter Jr has tonight. He was obviously rusty last weekend but man what a talent.

Having SGA is such a luxury. He LOVES calming everyone down and going to get a bucket/foul. Combo with Knox is a helluva pair to just "go get us a bucket" in crunch time.

Major props to the kid SKJ (8 & 6, 24 min) for staying with it and taking advantage when his opportunity finally came...which just happened to be in the postseason, when it matters most.

Damn I hope he stays around. What a luxury he would be for 2 more years.

* Cats -7. That'll drop to about -5 or so by tip.

* What's more common? Being outscored by 33 from deep yet still winning in basketball, or losing the turnover battle by 4 yet still winning in football (UK-UT)?

* Buffalo likes to run. Good. None of this "milk the clock because we're inferior" nonsense.

* Cal is now 82-0 at UK against mid-majors in games that actually matter.

* Really looking forward to watching all the smart/hipster media types talk themselves into a Buffalo win over the next 30 hours or so. Never change, nerds.
