My UK roommate, in whose basement I've watched nearly every big game since college, has a baby now so going to his place and being a maniac wasn't an option. This game was too big for a bar. So, I headed out to my mom and dad's, where ever since dad put together his UK den a few years back, his two brothers and a handful of my cousins watch the games. He's so proud of that place- it's almost kitschy how much UK **** he has, not an inch of any wall spared- and I think its cool they all get to hang out so often now. Their youngest brother who also came out a bunch passed away two years ago, so I think its good they get to see each other weekly from Nov-April- three old dudes from Newport bickering, cheering on the Cats, all trying to one up each other.
Anyway, just an awesome, loud and charged place to watch a game like tonight.
Being a sports fan, even one of a bigtime winner, you still have more big losses than big wins. Have to savor nights like tonight and the friends, dads, wives, moms, sisters, uncles, cousins, etc. you get to share them with.
The lass went to bed hours ago. I'm sitting here enjoying a late night Basil Hayden- first drink of the night- and watching highlights, reading CatPaw and stalking the Carolina board. F'm. They're going down.
