Somebody has to be left out of this group and maybe it will take care of itself with losses in the next 8 days, but on March 4 that's a really tough call to make.

Gonzaga is worthy, and a top 5 team -- for all the same reasons Richie listed.

Team is flat loaded. They lost a basketball game to a team that they should have beaten, though. #exposed

UCLA is going to finish 3rd in the P12. Hard to justify them getting a 1 over any of those other 4. If Unc stumbles you could make a case for the P12 champ getting that last 1 though.

best rivalry in sports, history since the Greeks and Trojans, really a veritable operatic metaphor of human achievement

^ Just don't see it b/c of a lack of quality wins. Hold serve at home against UCLA or Kansas, and I think we'd have a legitimate argument.

Would you rather...

Have UNC as your one seed

Or

have Duke as your three seed

*Assuming we are a two seed

The seeding committee is always on the money. You're right.

I agree with you, but 29-5, and both titles in a power 5 conference with a commendable SOS and I think it's within the realm of possibilities.
That gets us a really cool 2 seed imo. Like the best 2 seed, with all the accompanying bells and whistles

Give me Duke as the 3. Assuming we take care of our own business in the hypothetical situation, I'll start hypothetically worrying about the 6.

Not that Duke certainly isn't capable of putting it all together and winning this whole thing, but something has just been off with them all year.

Maybe if you've been paying attention to the "seeding committee" w/ regards to the University of Kentucky under Cal, it would make more sense. SEC gets no respect, and it's hard to argue with that despite our SOS, and willingness to play a tough non conference. We have 2 real quality wins, and blew our chances at home to add to that in a huge way.

We're not getting a #1 seed, period. But knock yourself out dreaming about it I guess.

Duke has lost 3 of 4 and will most likely not make the ACC final. Hard to see them as a 3 at this point.

^ more likely than a #1 seed, krazykats. Again, if you've been watching the Selection Show the past 8 years...

I'll tell you who doesn't have college basketball figured out ---------------> Booker Noe.

Offering 3-1 odds for $100 that we don't get a #1 seed if we win the SECT. [email protected]

I don't know if we'll stay as a 3, but we aren't one of the four best teams and, no matter how conference tournaments go, we won't be at that point either. We haven't lost in about a month and this thread (rightly) has been wondering all along what's wrong with our team.

Why not 100-1? It's a sure thing.

West - Gonzaga or PAC12 champ
Midwest - Kansas
East - Villanova
South - Unc

The one seeds are Nova, Kansas, Gonzaga, and UNC.

The two seeds are UL, Baylor, UK, and a P12 team probably in that order. To get a one seed, we'd need to win the SEC tournament and have some luck. Gonzaga and/or UNC must falter, along with the two other teams ahead of us on the two seed line. Even then, there is a chance that the committee doesn't even consider the result of the SEC Championship game, rendering the abject chaos in front of us without consequence.

Speaking of the win streak, I'm not a fan of going in with 11 straight. I want hardware and will root for hardware but for me personally I can live with a loss this coming weekend.

Agree Cawood. We've peaked a bit early and need a loss...this steamrolling of .500 SEC teams isn't helping either. Just been murking fools if you know what I'm saying. Lol. Need a reality check.

Reminds me of '96 & '12 SECT losses, which were welcomed after a short redass.
