I am willing to trade a 2nd place finish for a chance at finishing higher in the futureThe problem wasn't Moorhead playing Kylin over Aeris. The problem was Moorhead not using either RB.
If Les Miles can take that 2011 LSU Offense to the SEC Championship and the National Championship Game, most coaches could finish 2nd at least in the SEC West with MSUs talent.
But now we wont have any of it. Hiring Moorhead was the biggest downfall to MSU Athletics Cohen couldve done.
We all watched mediocre to good football for a decade under Mullen, and we were all tired of it and wanted more, you are lying if you say otherwise. The only reason we all wanted Mullen back was to see what he would do in 2018 with 'his' team, and honestly he would have just gone 10-2 with no trophies, and we would be frustrated yet again. We all knew he wanted to be gone, and we all knew he had quit recruiting and start relying on JUCO too much, just like another coach about 20 years ago.Me too!***
Is Dabo or Nick available?****
But the way Moorhead handled aeris is criminal. A thousand yard rusher in 17 and now might not even get drafted, I'm seeing no mention of him anywhere. He was a great bulldog and deserved better. Heck the way all our rbs were utilized was awful.
No. I am just willing to roll the dice for the future result. I like to look 5 years down the road at minimum.I would have taken 10-2 last year. Guess you prefer the actual result?
If you think Moorhead's poor utilization of the running backs has anything to do with Aeris not getting drafted you need to step outside the maroon bubble and get a broader perspective. Aeris was a pretty good college back but there are hundreds of backs across the country just like him. He's tough, a good teammate, good pass protector and generally falls forward, but frankly he just doesn't have the talent level required for that position in the NFL. If you can't see that I question whether you watch much football outside of our games. There's lots of tape on Aeris, if he had what it takes he would be found regardless of the few number of carries he received last year.
Right, let’s not pretend that Aeris didn’t play because Kylin was getting 20 touches/game. Neither one was effectively utilized because we ran an RPO that led to our QB tucking and running 20-25 times/gm.
People can keep blaming Fitz for that all they want, but it’s Joe’s offense and he knew what he was working with. He also had plenty of chances to make adjustments, and aside from the one Auburn game, we never saw many changes
Bottom line... there really wasn’t a single player on the offensive side of the ball that was effectively utilized last year, and we’re about to find out whether Fitz was to blame for all that or not. I know where my money lies
Whether some of you want to believe it or not, Fitz had a lot to do with the RBs lack of carries. He kept the ball a lot more than he should have. The problem wasn't Moorhead playing Kylin over Aeris. The problem was Moorhead not using either RB.

Mullen did not want to be here.

In 2015 RBs ran for 875 yds on 191 attempts for a 4.58 avg and scored 3 TDs.
In 2016 RBs ran for 1221 yds on 245 attempts for a 4.99 avg and scored 6 TDs.
In 2017 RBs ran for 1677 yds on 350 attempts for a 4.70 avg and scored 9 TDs.
In 2018 RBs ran for 1576 yds on 253 attempts for a 6.2 avg and scored 9 TDs.
I realize these numbers don't quite fit the narrative. Sorry about that.

Interesting.
And seeing this, one should then ask- with such an effective running game(based on those numbers), why not utilize the RBs more in '18?
That's all you got from that? You can have your own opinion, but you can't have your own facts.

Your own statistics show we did not rush it nearly enough in 2018.
some of you folks willing to roll the dice must not have sat through many Croom games. We found something that worked here. We should have done everything we could to get something as close as possible. you keep saying everyone was tired of mediocre to good football? that's straight ********. Most ot the fans i knew were happy with our production and output with the understanding we would have down years being in between during our development period.
It is a shame Dan left after he had stockpiled a full group of qb's built to run the spread option. I can understand wanting to leave some place after a while though for something new and different or a bigger opporntunity.
taking a gamble at MSU can lead you back down a dark road. it's this time frame you might not get out of it.
It'd be interesting to see those numbers against average and above defenses. Basically 2017 is the only relevant comparison. 2017 was the only year there where mullen had a talented back that he let get the primary snaps. So throw out say OOC or even throw out OOC and Arkansas and Ole Miss for 2017 and 2018 and I wonder what the comparison looks like.
