I wonder if they would have taken Frost back now?
I kid.
I'm not sold on Gus... Too many shady coincidences in the past for me. Time will tell, but I think he will bring the program down a peg or two. First season or two good living off existing players but then the bottom will begin to fall out.
Great hire and I would guess he'll be back in the SEC very quickly.I’m a big fan. Gus is a proven HC. I can’t imagine him living off Huepel’s coattails and then having it fall apart.
Agreed - I remember when UCF played Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl in 2013. Baylor fans were absolutely looking down their noses at UCF - because Baylor has been playing football since 1898 and has been in a power conference since 1915 while UCF has only been playing FBS football since 1996 (and varsity football at any level only since 1979) and has never been in a power conference. I'm kind of surprised Malzahn took this job - I know in the past the Arkansas job was pretty much his for the asking (maybe he's simply parking himself at UCF until the Arkansas job opens up again).Better team, yes. Better job, no. Only if you want to win 10-13 games a year and never be taken seriously. Not to mention Heupel was making $3M+ less at UCF than Frost is making at Nebraska. UCF is a stepping-stone job and always will be unless they join a P5 conference.
That would be my guess too. He'll be back in the SEC in 2-3 years. Probably to Arkansas when they fire their coach again.
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.Frost and UCF beat Gus and Auburn, no?
