I wonder if they would have taken Frost back now?

I kid.

Can we swap Gus for Scott and throw in our starting QB and his coach??!

Moves like this is what Nebraska fan should think about when he says "well if Frost doesn't take this job and can't succeed then NO decent coach would come here"....BS!

Hmmm let's see...take 2 mill at UCF-Disney or 5 mill at Nebraska? You know where he's going. Stop worrying that you have to keep crash landing with Frost because there are plenty other pilots out there ready to the controls.....

I'm not sold on Gus... Too many shady coincidences in the past for me. Time will tell, but I think he will bring the program down a peg or two. First season or two good living off existing players but then the bottom will begin to fall out.

I’m a big fan. Gus is a proven HC. I can’t imagine him living off Huepel’s coattails and then having it fall apart.

He'll be back in the SEC in 2-3 years. Probably to Arkansas when they fire their coach again.

He killed it in the best conference for a bit, and did it at Auburn...who will always be Bama's little brother, and that's woth something. If he flames out from here so be it. I know if i'm UCF I feel freaking great about my chances with him.

Out of a job where the pressure was nuts AND he hated doing anything that was PR related...goes to a job where no one knows who is on the team, there are no boosters to speak of, no radio call in shows 24/7 about the team no post board nerds, no in state rival that could show him up....

This is a dream.

Better team, yes. Better job, no. Only if you want to win 10-13 games a year and never be taken seriously. Not to mention Heupel was making $3M+ less at UCF than Frost is making at Nebraska. UCF is a stepping-stone job and always will be unless they join a P5 conference.
Agreed - I remember when UCF played Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl in 2013. Baylor fans were absolutely looking down their noses at UCF - because Baylor has been playing football since 1898 and has been in a power conference since 1915 while UCF has only been playing FBS football since 1996 (and varsity football at any level only since 1979) and has never been in a power conference. I'm kind of surprised Malzahn took this job - I know in the past the Arkansas job was pretty much his for the asking (maybe he's simply parking himself at UCF until the Arkansas job opens up again).

So any current Husker assistant coaches giving a listen should Gus reach out to see if interest is there to return to UCF?
GBR!
