have you tried buying 9mm lately? there's a few "deals" out there right now at about 50cpr. back in february it was 17cpr

I'm starting to try my hand at reloading. I used to help my dad back in the day, and hoping I can build some solid defense rounds.

A couple of the gun stores around Madison have had constant shipments in and seem to advertise that they have ammo regularly. However, they are price gouging. Saw a customer call them out on Facebook for the ridiculous prices (was like $50 for a box of 50 9mm FMJs), and the owner claimed that since ammo wasn't considered "essential items" that price gouging was not illegal. He never refuted the price gouging claim.

Yeah yeah, capitalism and all that. But still.... this isn't competing with the market, it's 100% taking advantage of people. Case in point, saw that Cheaper than Dirt! was selling a 50 round box of 9's for a crisp $100 bill.

well, that owner is full of crap. I know for a fact that guns and ammo stores were allowed to stay open during shutdown because they sold guns and ammo and those items were deemed essential. Guns and Gear are ramping up the prices just because they can. Big box stores have been selling them higher than normal but that's normal supply and demand. They aren't near as bad. I think Guns and Gear is up charging to a dollar a round on 9mm for 500 rounds at $500. That was just basic FMJ like you said. I think Van's had much cheaper ammo. best bet is knowing delivery days at big box stores and get there early.

Guns and Gear is certainly putting a premium on their ammo, you can still find 9mm range ammo for $15-20 per box of 50 (limited to two boxes). Steer way from steel casings if at all possible.

I heard some of the academy sports guys over here are buying the ammo as they come in, and selling it themselves for like twice the price.
