Only if Herro also returns otherwise Hagans, Maxey, and Quickley duel it out for the point one becomes a high end back up the other is then back up 2, Johnson slides to the other wing and Whitney is the 3 man. Or we go smaller with something like Hagans, Maxey, Johnson, and Whitney with Montgomery or Richards in the middle.

If Herro and Johnson both come back then I'll live with any downside of a freshman dropping off but strongly believe we'd have starter minutes if not slot for Whitney still. It is Brooks and Allen (Red shirt lock at that point) that get an opportunity squeeze.

All that aside though if it comes down to a 2nd year of Johnson or a 1st year for Whitney then I'll take the bird in hand over the one in the bush.

Kid could have been a high second round pick this year, risky decision when you factor in that the longer you stay at Dook, the bigger nosedive your draft stock takes ( Marques Bolden, Greg Paulus, Shavlik Randolph, Amile Jefferson ) .I wish Cal would convince Herro to stay but unlike K our coach has his players' best interests at heart.

Jones is certainly not a guaranteed first rounder. If you are saying he should go because he would eventually get picked, then most of our team should leave as well.

Monty would be picked late second round. Someone might take a flier on Hagans if he can hit shots in individual workouts.

2nd year KJ and it's not close. Even though it's probably not gonna happen. Whitney while super athletic, will have fans pulling their hair out on Hami Diallo level early on.

Problem is, in addition to Jones they also have Boogie Ellis coming in, O'Connell, Baker, Goldwire returning and Wendell Moore who will play some at the 2 because he is undersized for a 3. So that is already 6 guys in the backcourt. Hampton is better than all of them, but do you really want to go somewhere with that many other guys?

If he is that good, it doesn’t matter how many players are BEHIND you. Hampton wants to play point.

Does he come here with Hagans, Quickly, and Maxey?
