I'm not trying to kill all the other guys that played before. We did have some good guards in Fran's run.

That said, we would clearly not win this game with the previous guards. Combs is very, very solid running the point off of Stirtz.

I'm liking this team. We won't beat some of the big boys in the B10 often but the scheme will allow us to knock some of them off. You have to work all game to beat us.

It’s just so refreshing to watch our guards play solid D. Keep man in front, fight over screens and not dip under, good rotation and not having to see other team take so many wide open 3s. Thought Howard did a really good job defensively at the end on top of the huge back to back buckets.

It’s nice not having a 5’11” skinny point guard with tattoo’s

This was a game that Fran would have been blown out by 20 at half due to terrible guard play then got worse in second half, only to bring it back to a 12 point loss in the end. FranCon would’ve gotten to a three due to ref calls perceived by Fran as egregious.

So refreshing to see a compete product on the court from start to finish with smart play. Add in a coach spending all of his time coaching his players and not worrying about calls.

Howard - is he in a slump or not a shooter? He was our best matchup on storr.
I like Combs being a lefty.
Folgy needs to be our #2.
Coop will shoot great from arc for hawks. He has such a pure free throw stroke, gonna translate.

I like how we closed this game down stretch.
Disciplined ball can beat more talent,I hope.it did tonite.

Lóling at lineups for Grand canyon and Utah...all grad students at gc....rather play a younger Utah...including traore..ex- hawk...bet he's a player.

The only ball pressure exerted, in relation to an Iowa team last season, was when Fran got mad at the refs and accidentally squeezed his own nuts with his hands always in his pockets.

Probably the best theoretical summary you'll see about what probably would have happened. The bold part IS factual and a welcome change.

But if he had wasted all that time coaching during timeouts we would have been robbed of joyous moments like these, lol...

Storr is crazy. St John's, Wisconsin, Kansas, Mississippi. I can't imagine going to 4 schools in 4 years.

I’m hopeful that Hausen can play a bigger role as a 3PT assassin. He attempted 232 3PT FGAs for KState last year, shot 39%.

Koch remind me of Greg Brunner he is going to be really good for us.
I don't know that I've ever seen such poor three-point shooting by the supporting cast considering how wide open the looks were. That was an impressive win considering the officials were truly awful in my opinion. Lots of touch files on us while hacks were getting away on the other end

Koch has got some work to do to remind me of Brunner. Koch came in as a shooter and I hope that continues. Brunner, all 6'4" of him was a beast on the inside. What that team should have done, still haunts me

The Villanova team that we ran into that one time, who ended up winning it all. Wasn't that a "guard laden" team with not much height inside? I'm curious about that because McCollum is kinda a disciple of Wright, if I saw that right..when looking at his bio info and interviews early on after he got the Iowa job.
