With all-world TE Gronkowski retiring plus rumors that the Patriots like Grier, would they now also consider Wesco who impressed everyone at Pro Day? If so, I might become a NFL fan.

That’s how I am. I don’t really care about the NFL, only WVU players in the NFL.

Grier is gonna be a huge NFL bust. Mark it down.

How so?

Grier at best will be a late 1st to 2nd round pick. More than likely a 2nd rounder at best with a great accurate arm with touch. The only way he's a late 1st rounder is if there's a run on QBs and teams reach (Denver Miami, Cincinatti) that really aren't in the market for a qb. At 2nd round to 3rd round, Grier is cheap and will not have to start or play year one barring injury.

Do you just not like him or something?

If Will Grier turns into a bust.....

Means that he is out of the NFL in three to four years.

As a second to third round pick you have someone who could start but has weaknesses that NFL teams see.
Drew Brees and Russell Wilson are the types.
But so is Johnny Manziel.
You are not expected to be a starter and as a second and third round pick if you are a 10 year backup you are not a bust.

You definition of Bust vs everyone else's is different then.

Ryan Leaf-Bust
JaMarcus Russell-Bust
Johnny Football-Bust
Tim Couch-Bust
Akili Smith-Budt
Etc
Etc

Down the list in the drafts

Geno Smith-backup qb at best drafted in the 2nd round

Down the list

Pat White-Nice college system QB who got drafted in the 3rd round & didn't work out in the NFL at all

His employer will spend more $$$$$$ on Gatorade (if they had to buy it) in a year than what his salary will cost. He can't be a bust at that price and draft position.

He has that gunslinger mentality of Brett Farve or a Phillip Rivers.
NFL teams are taken back by his confidence.
They think he is too cocky. That is on him. I think a team like Washington would be perfect for him. Gruden can reign him in a little but they have some good offensive weapons. Plus Alex Smith's health is in question.
Jay Gruden is one of the best QB coaches in the NFL.

I don't watch or care about the NFL, BUT If he gets any qb coaching in the NFL, it will be the first qb coaching he's had in a few years. Grier has a lot of upside. This past season he played on a team with no defense and if he is not there WVU doesn't win 6 games.

It is not about money.
It is about the draft pick...

Anything above the fifth round you expect a player that will play for 5 years.
Second and third rounds you expect starters but you will take a chance on a QB that has warts.

The warts can prove true or false.

Grier has a weak arm and small frame. He can't throw a deep out from the far hash. He is Chad Pennington with a cocky, abrasive attitude.

I guess we will find out if New England has any available picks in the 3rd and 5th rounds.

You mean like Tom Brady? In 6th round 199th pick. How did those warts turn out?

You have no clue. Texas clown.

That is not the norm in the 6th round.
There are undrafted players who start at QB for long stretches of time.

I wouldn't say those players have weaknesses...

When you draft a QB in the first round you expect him to start.
It is hit or miss but first round QBs have on average the last 20 years the most career starts.
Especially since the late 90's.

When you get into the second and third round the percentage goes down.
You will find great QBs drafted wherever and like I said some are undrafted.

I am high on Will Grier. I think his weaknesses can be a strength. If I was a NFL GM I would want a guy like Grier in the QB room because he is a winner and works hard.
The question is does that gunslinger mentality turn into bad plays or good plays.

Both Brett Farve and Johnny Manziel were drafted around the same time.
Manziel had other off the field issues....

But do a little research on the 1992 and 1993 Green Bay Packers coaching staff
Then look at the 2014 Cleveland Browns coaching staff....

50% is the QB but the other 50% is being drafted by a solid organization.

End of the day ...

The draft is based on how many people want you
Don't know the story behind Tom Brady.

But there are some cases that teams recognize a good piece of fruit but because no one else wants it they don't use a draft pick

You are drafted high because numerous teams want you...
Will Grier as of right now has second to third round demand....
Mainly because some teams think he is too cocky.

I like this fit and think you may have hit on something.
However, cocky is what you want in a QB as long as he can back it up.
Tom Brady, 6th round... cocky and can back it up.
Ryan Leaf, 1st round... cocky and...you get my point.

If all the pieces fall in place for Grier..
Grier will end up with the Washington Redskins.
Alex Smith and Colt McCoy are out.
Don't know if they are going to bring in another QB.
Jay Gruden brought Andy Dalton along in Cincinnati.
They have two great RBs. Peterson and Guice. Guice last year had warts all over him and the Redskins didn't care. Should have been a first round pick. Better than both RBs out of Georgia.
Will Grier could have the chance to own that job.

Exactly. And Geno Smith was a lot more talented than Grier. Geno had all the tools. He just didn’t have the right head on his shoulders. Grier desperately needs to get in the weight room if he has any plans of playing in the NFL. He also needs pocket awareness

Geno was raw. Had a lot of talent but the system didn't prepare him for the NFL...

This is one of the knocks against Will Grier according to the media guys.
NFL front offices...I don't know. I think some NFL teams are allowing this narrative to be put out there because they like Will Grier.

Grier did play in more of what they call a NFL system at Florida...
Looked good while doing it.

One thing everyone noted about Brady, Manning and Favre....their massive weight room advantage.

Just curious if your NFL fandom is predicated on Grier and Wesco joining the Patriots or Grier and Wesco catching on with any team? If the latter, does it have to be the same team?

Don’t let facts get in the way of someone who’s still pissed off at Will Grier for skipping an exhibition game in Orlando vs Syracuse that drew a what 2.1 rating. If those who don’t like Grier and want him to see him bust say he has a weak arm, he has a weak arm. To heck with facts, figures, velocities and the passes Everyone saw get thrown over 2 seasons, to heck with record, and the fact he had no defense, the trolls, haters, and recycled username trolls say he has a weak arm and he will be a bust!

ok, let’s revisit this topic in a few years. My observation has nothing to do with skipping the bowl game. I just don’t see a successful starting NFL QB in him. I’m sure he’ll get his shot simply because of draft position and financial commitment. It won’t last

I still hope Grier goes to the Saints and eventually takes over for Brees. The fans won’t even notice the difference.
