I herd the same thing . They offered it to Jeff Monroe but couldn't find him a teaching job . He teaches P E

Schools need to "move" people around to fill some coaching positions. If a school needs a coach, create an "opening". I have seen teams suffer, i.e. lose, because of failure to hire good coaches. Every position should be filled with best coach possible.
