I want to share some media, and I'm sorry to those who are sick of hearing about Greg Schiano. I will be posting some old Schiano stuff in this thread. For those who will enjoy it, enjoy it. For those who are not interested or are hostile to this nostalgia, please simply ignore. Please also feel free to share your favorites in this thread as well.

This was before RU was winning anything...something felt really right about the direction, didnt it?

If you asked 100 random people across America which one of those two guys was dead, I'm willing to bet the results would be close to an even split. lol

Oh, and...

80-7.

So this thread is ground zero for all the future "Schiano took a restraining order against me. What as d@@@!!" threads.

This thread immediately made me think of the RutgersAl Savon Huggins Jersey Strong video....

Hobbs needs to see that the Ash hire hasn't worked out. Hire Schiano as Football AD and Head Coach. It will solve 3 problems.
  1. Hobbs knows nothing about football. He can bring someone in who knows the University and can rebuild this program that has been devastated from the FLOOD and has been burnt to the ground and now in ASHES.
  2. Revenue Base is Gone. Hobs focused so much on the whale donors and the perception is that he has taken advantage of the fan base by jacking up parking passes to prices higher than Giants Stadium. The fans are cutting back their season tickets and in some cases dropping out all together and staying home.
  3. Fan Base and tradition has been ignored. Do you think that is Greg was here we would not have a 150 year game with Princeton scheduled? Hobbs and the other decision makers have no clue about what those traditions mean. Look around at his staff... other than Marco where are the Rutgers Alumni? No sense of tradition because they are not part of it.

Seems like a lifetime ago.........

STUDENTS CAMP OUT IN 'SCHIANOVILLE'
Nov 07

PISCATAWAY, N.J - The Rutgers student section ticket allotment of 10,500 seats were distributed in just four hours Tuesday morning at the Student Ticket Gate at Rutgers Stadium. More than 1,000 Rutgers students camped out overnight outside Rutgers Stadium in anticipation of Tuesday morning's student ticket distribution for Thursday night's BIG EAST showdown between No. 14 Rutgers and No. 3 Louisville.

When ticket distribution commenced at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, the line had grown to over 5,000 students, stretching halfway around the stadium's perimeter.

Head coach Greg Schiano greeted the students in line late Monday evening, handing out 50 pizzas to the enthusiastic supporters, igniting several Rutgers chants.

Students in possession of a student ticket to the game must also present a valid student identification card along with their student ticket to gain entry to the Thursday's game. There will be no exceptions.

He has his flaws, but again, he is the right guy at the right time. Make it so.

I actually called Schiano on his radio show (no I wasn't the "Tailgate Hard" guy).

Schiano was an Olde Testament coach. Like Scarlet Moses, he laid down the law and the culture, and brought RU to the edge of the promised land, without actually being able to enter!

Part 2 is rarely as good.....and what he did 10 years ago will be difficult to replicate....too much negative stigma about him (Tampa; Tennessee; Penn State (Sandusky etc)......different generation / decade etc now as well......I'd prefer we hire someone else with NJ / PA / East Coast Roots etc to be HC but I'd still be ok (not crying for joy) if Schiano was hired.....

The bottom line is very simple.

It's really only a guarantee to reinvigorate recruiting with Schiano.

When Schiano was coach after 2005 or so, we basically walked into the stadium knowing we could compete with anybody.

Schiano had WTF games, but he also had us in contention for bowls.

Look at how many people showed up to watch a bad team yesterday. All this fanbase wants is to be an East Coast Iowa, someone in contention to get 7 games and go bowling each year, and GS is that man, and he will not have these credit card scams and murder plots.

It's a no brainer, bring Greg home.

I'm not much for nostalgia. Living in the past.

Let's move forward and hire an in-conference winner instead.

That’s what made it so special. Not many people can turn 80-7 to top 15.
