This question may have been answered, but I don't remember seeing it. How do Green and Quickley compare, to those who have seen them? Which one is the best pg? I was just wondering if Quickley is good enough to come in and start ahead of Green.

Yes, but they could also co-exist in the starting line up together. Just depends on what kind of line up Cal wants to play next year. Quickley can play both the 1 and 2. More of a combo guard. Neither are particularly athletic, but both can be good defenders when they apply themselves. They both shoot the ball well, but Quickley has an easier time creating and getting his shot off because he is taller. Excited to have them both on the roster next year.

If Green takes a step forward in the offseason he should start at the 1. He has a year in Cals system and should be somewhat of an extension of Cal on the court bc he knows what Cal wants. He should alleviate some of Cals workload like Andrew and Tyler in their year 2s.

Quickley has a solid jumper and is a better scorer than Green. Depending on how Cal wants to build the lineup he could easily start at the 2.

Quickley has a much more prototypical NBA PG body at 6’3” with a 6’8” wingspan. He’s more athletic than Green, and he’s a lot faster than people are saying. I expect to see both on the floor together a lot.

Quickley will be a starter from Day 1, no question. The real questions are who comes back, and does Green start ahead of guys like Herro and Baker?

I think it depends on how Green handles coming off the bench but I think Quickley starts.

You can play them together no problem.

Both plus level shooters. Quickley is more advanced at pretty much every aspect.

You all are going to love him. He fits along side any lineup because he can space the floor.

personally I see it playing out like this...

1. SGA, Knox leave...and probably Diallo
2. If #1 happens:
PG: Green
SG: Quickley
SF: Keldon Johnson
PF: Wenyen (Vanderbilt if he comes back)
C: PJ

So I foresee Quickley and Green both playing on floor at same time a ton next year.

Going to go with (if no one else added)
1 - quickly
2 - johnson
3 - gabriel
4 - washington
5 - richards

don't think vanderbilt returns

Not only do they fit well, we have Baker, Herro and maybe Hagans and any of these players will be a huge step up on offense. Sorry, but Diallo may become a great pro but he was a bust as a college player. I still say we need a solid big man graduate transfer or front court player to add, but again a lot always depends upon who returns. I really hope that Vanderbilt comes back and allows himself to have a solid year. He needs a lot of work on offense but is a very gifted player. Vanderbilt and PJ were a great combination, so hope that they both are here along with Gabriel.

Obviously depends who returns and leaves or reclasses... but i would be surprised if Quade doesnt start at least at the beginning of season. I think Cal would like to bring a leader/veteran guard off the bench if possible though so also wouldnt be surprised to see Quade relegated to 2nd team. Id love a1-2-3 of Quickley-Diallo-Johnson

Quickley with Hagans/Lecque start over Green. He refuses to play defense. Cal jerked him out of games all season because he couldn't stay in front of anybody and wouldn't close out on the shooter.

Quickley is probably more like Brandon Knight...

Similar size, good quickness and athleticism, but not elite.

Plays under control and is a good shooter.

Green is one of my favorites for his attitude but he has a LONG way to go to be an effective point guard. Surprisingly he doesn't really possess point guard playmaking skills and is more suited for the 2. He isn't quick or able to break down off the dribble and doesn't see/feel the floor very well and panic passes a lot. Think Cal noticed that early on and went all in on trying to make him a scorer.

If SGA goes it's Quickley's position without a doubt. Green will continue the same role he played this year.

I am interested to see how Quickly compares to Jones in these all star games. I think Green will be very solid next year.

Interesting, because I see it the opposite at Guard, with Quickley at PG, and Green as our SG (although either way, one will backup the other at PG). Quickley is closer to Cal's typical tall PG, and surely he shares the ball better than Green.

Also PJ will NOT be our C. That will be Richards (all-SEC 2019).

Can't have a rim protector if you don't sign one. Washington played a **** load of 5 for UK this past season the last 15 or so games when Cal went small. It was pretty often and a lot of minutes.

This, also, PJ averaged .8 blocks per game last year. Richards averaged .9, so, if Richards can play the 5 for Cal, PJ can play the 5 for Cal, IF rim protecting is the catalyst.

Don't see IQ and QG playing together. If neither Herro or Baker can start at the 2 then next year doesn't look that great

I like Quade as far as attitude but as far as ability to play pg/sg he is not good enough he can' penetrate /pass and he's not a good defensive guard he also is not a knockdown shooter so he can't play sg in my opinion that's the reason we are still recruiting hagans! Thoughts?

Quade seemed to do a pretty good job defending Sexton.

Quickley is the best pg in HS . He isn't an ultra athlete but boy can he lead , pass and shoot.
I know when he was younger he was the top ranked PG, seems like he has slipped a little in the rankings. Hopefully just because of injuries

If you think Quade didn' have a ton of help D on Collin sexton that's fine ,Quade was snatched outta the game a bunch by Cal after being torched by a pg blowing past him or shooting ill-advised shots ...but your opinion of him doesn't mean any more then mine ,but there is a reason cal is still recruiting a pg with quickley!

Quickly is bigger - the bigger type guard that Cal usually prefers.

However, I think Green would be the better option. I’ve seen Quickly play (full games) 3-4 times and wasn’t blown away - don’t be mad at me, just stating my opinion. He is a really good player but he isn’t a game changer by any means.

Did you just call Green a good defender?LMAO...And to answer the question..I would bet Quickley will start at PG..Id compare Green to Ritchie Farmer

If Diallo goes pro then Green and Quickly start at the guards. It all hinges on who stays and goes.

Exactly.. If Diallo leaves we really need to sign an elite guard to play the 2.. I'd love to see Quickley and Diallo start at the 1 and 2 with Green as a backup to Quickley. If Quickley has to play the 2 next to Green I'm a little worried.

How is Quade not a good shooter? He was the best knockdown shooter on this years team.

I'm pretty sure I stated Quade green is not a great shooter ,as a matter of fact I went back and looked and yes its exactly what I typed. ....he's not a great shooter ,not a great passer, not a great defender actually poor defender ....I'm not a big Quade fan and he also hits a shot and then he kills our team period thinking he should have the right to come down without a pass and just fire it from 30 feet cause he hit the previous 3pt shot! Also just because he was the best shooter on our team which I don't believe he is (Knox ) is,that doesn't make him a knockdown shooter in my opinion we didn't have a knockdown shooter one....when you say knockdown shooter I'm thinking Lamb, booker ,knight and Murray . ....Quade can't shoot with none of those guys he's a average shooter at best!
