We are understanding that inside of the same year we're talking about Duke that was just curb stomped by 22 points and a team ranked ahead of us has a 14-14 record meaning not only could they not put teams away, they couldn't actually beat them. As in wins and losses, good and suck, right?

These models are trash. It should all be thrown out. It doesn't work for seeding and they'd be better off going by the AP top 25 at this point.

“Would expect every metric to struggle”- you have met your expectations, and then some. These clowns must work for the same people who predict the weather a year in advance. Saying global warming is here all the while tunneling out from a blizzard to do their report. And get praised for doing so. Where the hell did common sense go to? Somebody tweeted it to oblivion.

Duke's also won several games by 30+ in conference.

What have we done to make you think we are a top team?

Purdue has lost as many as they've won. Duke squeaked a come from behind win against a horrid UNC team, they lost by 22 points this week, they were beaten by SFA at home.

If you honestly think a handful of throw away games and beating some crap ACC team in Durham by 10 more points than UK beat a scrub a month ago matters and justifies this nonsense I can't help you man.

Hey Morg,

You don't seem to understand. I don't care about the system, Purdue is 14-14. I have eyes and a brain.

I like ya fella, but if you are tired of the threads, which I know you are, don't read them.

sorry I just....you have 4 likes and countin on this post[laughing]

Winning and losing doesn’t matter in Kenpom. That’s just how it works. Take it for what it’s worth. Use it as a tool. It is built upon correlations. There are going to be teams that buck the trends.

Curiously, when it rates us higher than general perception, like in most other years under Cal, there is little to no consternation.

1.21 gigawatts when you calculate it you'll see that Purdue is just a better team with better chances. You can't look at wins and losses. This isn't your grandfathers NCAA.
I don't understand their formula which is why I said what I did. You may have explained it, didn't see it but not sure why you responded angrily. Wasn't here to prove you or anyone wrong. I only got as far as the OP before I saw something I don't understand.

Never mind.

Honestly, this team could easily go home, but these metrics are trash. You'd be better off taking the AP and going down the line this year to fill the bracket.

It is that kind of year I suppose.

I can't believe I must explain this again.

You don't understand the system. If you did this wouldn't be confusing to you.

What your eyes aren't showing you is the political science rating rating inside of the algorithm calculations. This is technologically anecdotal which is accurate.

We deserve an 8 seed but you've got to understand numbers in great detail to get it.
Do what now? Lol. This post convinced me you are just being sarcastic haha. I understood almost half of the words lol.

You don't understand the system that's why you're so confused.

Kenpom was actually 24-25 in round quad efficiency during last years tournament. It's one of the best metrics anywhere and the algorithms use finite calculus and political science inside of its calculation which makes is nearly as good as the NET.

What I'm saying is you need to understand the system and clearly don't. This isn't hard.

Had we scored as many efficient points in quad quality time then we'd be ahead of Purdue. These threads are tiresome. What do you want?

My eyes are telling me this is a team that does not have an ability to blow teams out.........even mediocre competition that top teams should be blowing out.

I agree but if UK won out they have to be a 3 seed. Can't put them a 4 when they keep winning by 1-40 points doesn't matter. Right now they are a lock at a 4 seed, I think most have us a 5 tho. We know for a fact we wasn't a top 4seed 2 weeks ago.

oh I totally agree with that.

Seeds have always been based on the resume. Who did you beat.

There is zero doubt if we win out, we'd be a 3 seed or possibly even a 2 seed.

So Purdue is losing efficiently! Got it.

Sagarin #7 RPI ranking looks right to me. I mean we are #22 RPI at Realtime.com and they have 10 teams ahead of us with 7 or 8 losses. I know Evansville was a horrible loss at Rupp Arena but come on we should be at least Top 10 in RPI by now on Realtime and Pomeroy. Some of these teams ahead of UK are unbelievable like Arizona State, Arizona, LSU, Seton Hall, WVU, Oregon, BYU, Colorado, and Villanova. These teams have 7 or 8 losses and I just can't believe they are ahead of us in the RPI rankings. If you move UK ahead of these 7 and 8 loss teams they would be at about where they are at Sagarin at #7 RPI. I am so sick after winning 14 of 16 and 9 of 10 we still hear from the experts about Evansville Loss!

What you are failing to take into account in your defense of KenPom is the statistical flexibility of the geometric implications of the SIEVE OF ERATOSTHENES!! If you don't factor that into the 8 seed equation, you may as well just hypothesize the entire juxtaposition imo.

Since none of us have the mathematical details of any of these computer ranking systems, no one is an expert.
