Hope y’all enjoyed that more than I did. Toppin and Oscar were great. Your guards shot it well and the Cats played hard and tough.

Tshiebwe is so fun to watch. Enjoy the rest of your season. See ya in Rupp in a few weeks. Hopefully our center (s) will be back by then or it’ll be like last night.

Cheers

Stackhouse has already brought up the game in Rupp so I expect Vandy to play crazed basketball next time out.

Certainly was enjoyable. But not to be a negative Nancy, I would still like to see a zone once in a while or some better paint defense. Especially in the first half their guards and even the one kind of big man were able to drive for lay-ups and in the second half they simply missed some of those close in shots. A better team won't miss those and we give up way too many of those interior looks. The other thing was one Vandy guard the broadcasters (Dane i think or maybe is was Tom Hart) said you want to prevent him from going to his left and we never defended seemingly to know that. Makes you wonder if the scouting is still weak as why does Dane Bradshaw know it and not our team evidently?

Thanks for classy interaction Frieda. Memorial is always tough, but our Cats played pretty well. And you guys missed Liam Robbins (and Lee Dort) or it likely would have been a closer game.

The guard you reference is Tyrin Lawrence. He tore his acl his freshman year and he’s just now 100%. Tyrin is a lefty and every single team knows that, they all scout it and yet, nobody can stop him from going left. Bits wild to see. If he was a better shooter, he’d be an All SEC level player. He’s one of the bright spots this year even though he had a pretty meh game last night.

Crafty lefty, weird how hard it is to stop him from going left.

Thanks, bro.

Felt like we got a lot of looks around the rim we normally make but it was just a very bad game all the way around. To beat UK without Robbins and Dort, we can’t be missing 20 layups. And of course UK’s length is a strength for sure but it was just a bad offensive night for the boys.

We’re just a very mediocre team. Our best will beat most teams but we don’t bring that very often so we end up as an average SEC level team (see 10-10, 3-4 in SEC play).

A third grader could diagnose that those guys were trying to drive left. Scout, adjust, and move your feet. Really my only complaint from that entire game! Well done, Cats.

We will take our win and get out of Dodge, a win there is a welcome outcome.

Malik Dia is going to be a good one. He’s raw and still struggles with the complex schemes Stack runs or he’d see more court time. Hope he sticks around because he’s a beast on offense.

Thanks Frieda, Vandy really isn’t a bad team this year. I bet with the Center getting 17 a game they are tough. I think a Stackhouse could build a decent club if they could recruit a little easier.

“Great defensive coach” is a thing of the past. We aren’t good on defense.

Did you watch the game or just the score? Where was Vandy hitting and missing shots? In the paint. Again, this was Vandy and a good team if we allow easy drives at the basket won't be missing those that they did.

Why did Vandy extend Stack? Do you think he is the best Vandy can do?

These are the same people who loved to quote Wheelers assist numbers when anyone would dare question why he played so much. A number doesn’t always tell the story.

Yeah, recruiting is getting better than it was his first two seasons. We had a top 20th class this past year and we like all of the freshmen but won’t really see those benefits until the next two years. They’re starting to play a little more. The incoming class pairs really well with this current group of freshmen.

Not sure Stack makes it though, he needs to finish strong this year.

Liam Robbins being out is doing him no favors.

Optics and recruiting. I’m told the extension was only in name but didn’t increase his buyout.

Do I think Stack is the best we can do? I hope not. I’m torn on what the right decision is, fire or retain. On one hand, his overall record sucks and we’re not going to the NCAAt again. On the other hand, his last two seasons have been significantly better than his first two and he’s finally starting to *stack recruiting classes back to back.

You fire him and I’d imagine we lose 2/3 of the team to transfer. If you hire the right coach, that’s fine because he’ll get us back.

You retain him and we better start getting results.

Tough call but I definitely believe we can hire a better coach than what he has produced. We have a shitload of money. There are good coaches out there that don’t make 4 million per year that would love to live in Nashville, have our gym and facilities and build a winner. FYI - they’re spending a bunch at current to upgrade all of the basketball facilities.

Friedas_Boss did the ref's take that little ball out of their whistle's ? They did not call many fouls down there. I think Vandy had something like 5 fouls .

I was there and that was a little weird. I’d imagine due to lack of front court depth (we were down two centers), our plan was to try to stay in front and not foul. If we have those 10 extra fouls, I bet we would use every one to send Oscar to the line to try and get some 1 point possessions.

The refs probably could have called 10-15 more fouls during the game but they just let them play. I don’t think that suited us very well because UK’s physicality definitely effected our ability to make shots.

Strangely reffed game but no real impact on the outcome which is why nobody even referenced it.

Answer me this. Why would a nut job who fired away at poor Navin R Johnson with a high-powered rifle, then go on to become a hospital medical examiner ONLY to quit his lucrative gig to become a losing diving coach at Grand-Lakes College?

Dia was doing his best Joel Embiid impression the other night. Couldn't figure out why Stackhouse didn't just roll with him and leave 42 on the pine.

The complaint about our defense reminds me of the Rupp story that may be apocryphal. UK had held the other team virtually scoreless except for a player who had 3-4 baskets. During halftime, Rupp asked who was guarding that guy, "He's running wild!!"

I noticed our defense around the basket and was surprised by who was almost always involved. And who almost always gets blamed. And the two players aren't the same.

Exactly what I was going to say. We gave up way too many layups and close scores around the basket. Defense needs to step it up. Would like to see Oyenso more than Ware and help protect the basket more., Good points UK78
