Has there ever been anyone that has embodied the Duke program more than this kid?
You usually think about rich, white whiny kids when you think of Duke (changed a little bit with one and done but still). This guy is a spitting image of a whiny, babied rich white kid.

Thinks for the info. I still think the team will not protect the little punk, but in today's world who knows.
At some point Snyder will be overruled if and when Allen keeps tripping players. But, as of now, Snyder will protect him as much as he possibly can.

Quit bringing race into it. Grant Hill was a spoiled Duke player and he was black as a turd after a night of of bad Chinese food.
Kyrie Irving, Austin Rivers, Seth Curry, Nolan Smith, are just a few examples of rich, spoiled, non white Duke players.

As much as we all think Allen needs to have his nose broken, when was the last time someone legit got punched in the NBA? Lots of jawing/pushing/squaring up, but very little action when it comes to an actual fight.

With that said, a solid elbow could easily remove a few teeth for the guy. I don't anyone would really mind.

This. If anyone threw a legit punch to knock someone out these days Silver would probably suspend them for longer than it took Allen to get reconstructive dental surgery.

lol Have you ever watched a Duke game in the 90's? I didn't bring race into, it's very well known. Go watch the documentary on the Fab 5, they say exactly that. Kyrie and Nolan never made think of them as rich, whiny kids, the other 2 sure.
If you have watched basketball for the last 20 years, that was what duke was known for, and until recently when they started going for one and dones.

Is there anyone else that thinks that Coach K called Quin Snyder and the conversation went something like this:

Quin, do you remember me hiring you as my assistant? Do you also remember how I stood by you and
helped you when you were a meth addict? Well, now I need a favor from you. I need you to use your first round pick and take Grayson Allen.”

Don’t think for a second that a conversation like this didn’t occur.

I remember reading somewhere, maybe here, when Quinn was coaching Mizz that he was a coke head.
Every time I see him now on TV, and his face all sucked in looking like skelator, it makes me think he never stopped using coke.

No more protection from Coach K, Duke, and the NCAA. No more being surrounded by the top talent on an elite team.

His antics won't last. If this dummy truly hasn't learned or changed his ways he'll be in the D-league within 2 years. China within 4.

I agree that eventually his antics will get to the point that it will be out of Snyder’s control, but for now, Gracie has some protection.

Early in the first half, he was going for a loose ball and missed out but the other guy stumbled and the foul was called on Gracie. Announcer called it a foul for tripping as the guy lost his footing.

He is a clock that is about to get cleaned out.
Yep. Let’s face it, a lot of NBA players don’t care for Allen’s type to begin with. They sure as hell will have a special hardon for his type + one who trips, flops, and has a constant whiny look about him.

Sure have watched it. Jalen Rose also used the term, "Uncle Tom". Don't shoot the messenger.

No dont, we need him rehabbed.

Everyone knows what the result and what the narrative would be should this happen.

Gracie would be in the hospital and Boogie would be in jail. If not literally, the outcry from the usual media suspects for his 'thug' scalp would be deafening.

Would love for Boogie to give wee Gracie her comeuppance but I'm worried about the aftermath for sure.

There’s not any doubt that he was doing coke at Missouri. One of my best friends is a longtime Mizzou football and basketball season ticket holder and alum. There was no secret of Snyder not only doing coke, but also having affairs with coeds.

I cannot stand Grayson Allen. He's the type of punk that would be shot by his own troops.

Dont like the guy, he shouldve been suspended from college bball, etc but really not much to see here.

Agreed. There’d be no reason to even look at that clip if it were any other player.

And I hate to sound like I’m defending him. Especially given his history of dirty play, and that punchable face. But two guys getting tangled and neither wanting to back down happens in every game.

Kid is an absolute punk. No doubt about it. He’s been in the NBA what, two weeks? And already on the court issues.

I’d actually respect him more if somebody laid him out. Maybe it’d humble him up a little bit.
Let him pull that crap on Durant, or Green, or James, or Cousins I can’t see Durant or James clocking him but Green or Cousins? “Say goodnight, Gracie.”

As much as I wish someone would lay out the whiny brat, I didn’t see much there at all. Young tried to sweep through and get a 3 point foul. Allen held on. Young gave him a little extra and Allen gave him some back. That’s just basketball. Nothing cheap to see this time.

Looks Like Utah Jazz Guard Grayson Allen Will Continue His White-Privileged, Thuggish Ways in the NBA

Former Duke University guard Grayson Allen is all of the adjectives used to describe white basketball players who are relentless gritty, hard-nosed and scrappy. He’s been called a “real student of the game,” but Grayson Allen is also a term usually used to describe black men: thug.

For years, Allen has been one of college basketball’s dirtiest players. I wrote about his on-court thuggery and how Allen’s white privilege has prevented him from being properly disciplined.

Allen was coddled through his college career. His on-court violence was seen as a testament to his toughness. Despite having crossed the line several times, Allen was never properly reprimanded for his behavior. On Thursday, during a Summer League game against the Atlanta Hawks, Allen—playing for arguably the whitest team in the whitest place in the world, the Utah Jazz—appeared to be back to his thuggish ways.

First off, it’s a Summer League game. More than half of these players are going to be working at a Waffle House once the season starts. It doesn’t count towards anything. If you added winning every game in the Summer League with 50 cents, you’d still be about $2 short of a medium fries from McDonald’s.

Does any of this stop Allen from being a “gritty, hard-nosed,” spoiled, white-privileged *******?

Secondly, Trae Young had him beat on the play and there was nothing wrong with Allen fouling Young to keep him from getting the shot up. Where things started to get real “Grayson Allen-y” was his not moving his arm once he committed the foul and the shoulder to the stomach after Young gave him the “dude, get off of me” push.

And what did Jazz coach Quin Snyder have to say about Allen’s play? He apparently loves his tenacity on the defensive end, but added that his interaction with Young was a bad play by the rookie, Yahoo Sports reports.

Looks like Allen’s thuggish ways will continue in the NBA as he can’t even put the **** on pause during a Summer League game. At this point, I’m just wondering what adjectives announcers will use to continue to pamper his knuckleheaded behavior.

Whoa. I wonder how the writer REALLY feels about Grayson Allen. [laughing]
