Seems like a great nice kid, prob too nice. But Not sure why he’s playing the past few games if he is truly sick. But he’s now been non productive for several games. He’s our biggest paid NIL player, and he has not earned that. Stats vs low majors mean nothing. He is a complimentary player at best. Hope this staff, that will likely be back, realizes this. He needs to be recruited over in the portal.

According to Coach he has barely been able to practice, so not fair to judge him with an illness the last few games. They also mentioned on the Wisconsin broadcast that he dropped a lot of weight.

He's been "sick" going on 2 weeks, being so long, it's curious as to why he's practicing and not just resting to kick it

His contributions aren't making a difference to the team in his "condition"

Sounds like he's been sick recently, but he's also been over rated and had to take on more than he should have at this point of his career.
Sophomore, still young. Can’t be a Big Ten team’s best player. Many players who have been good players needed til year 3 or even 4 to reach their potential. Grant would be WAY more suited to be a Mag type player in that season he got hurt at MSG when he was a glue guy and not the alpha.

Not sure on that, Grant is really poor defensively at this point still, doesn't really glue anything together on that end. Solid 3rd or 4th scoring option though. The portal has screwed up everyone's expectations since you can't count on seeing a kid by year 3.

I agree that the portal has completely changed the way people look at players.

I will need to watch Grant closely on defense to see if he is getting beat one on one or falling victim to trying to do more than his 1/5.

but, he can score some points and get rebounds and that is some level of a glue guy if you have other players on the court who can do the scoring. If I’m not mistaken, the version of Mag that got injured at MSG was year 3 so that would be how to compare grant to him next season. It took Mag some time to develop.

Mag was always very good at D. Grant is not a good defensive player.

I think he just has to be more active without the ball. He can't create off the dribble, but he's long, a capable-enough shooter, and can jump out of the gym. When Harper was operating the offense (yes I'm aware we don't have a player of that caliber on our current roster) I feel like he was CONSTANTLY catching backdoor lobs. I'll be the first to admit he hasn't looked himself the past couple of weeks, but I also feel like his strengths aren't be completely utilized so far.

I don't want to hear tonight that Grant is still "ill"

its going on 2 weeks, if he's still "ill" then he shouldn't have made the trip

I would rather see Nwuli ( who played 11 minutes without fouling on Saturday) back up Buchanon

If this is what he brings to the table, then he’s hardly much more than a rotational complement. Those back door cut baskets typically happen due to defensive breakdowns often when teams are super focused on one or two all star players. He’s not getting those looks more than once or twice a game max if he’s lucky.

And he hasn't always been ready for them when he has gotten them either
