I don't do drugs and would rather a world without drugs at all but there was one university that allowed the scientific study of marijuana and no reputable studies have been done on it since it made a tier 1 drug about 50 years ago. So any garbage that is put into a book or documentary about weed is purely assumption and is non-scientific. The data is clear though...alcohol kills around 25k people a year in america at a conservative estimate, marijuana less than 100. So both should be illegal, but one should certainly be illegal.
I'm guessing he was just joking.

Most of the youth is moving out of state, Nebraska’s greatest natural resource is water, no oil or coal or tourism. Legalizing weed won’t help rural Nebraska imo it will help kill it off faster

Legalizing hemp was a major step for rural NE... and farmers across the USA. Lots of money being thrown at it.

Hemp crop is very lucrative and has the potential to revitalize, or pump capital back into small towns across America.

If you don’t know the difference between hemp and “weed”, there are books to help educate.

I have often thought it would be interesting to see a paper mill in Nebraska start up using hemp and serving Nebraska and regional area businesses and schools.

You could possibly use marginal ground and provide jobs to smaller communities like North Platte since the Union Pacific might further reduce yard operations.

Just not in favor of legalizing the smoking type sans medicinal for those on chemo.

Nebraska will be modernized by the strength and experience of our youth. The young people. Brought up in morality, truth and a spiritual way.

These kids can't read a book. It's all Instagram and pictures and Marvel movies.

Morons

lol
This is not a sarcastic question, is this a serious comment?

This is really not much different than owning a bar or a liquor store. I don't know that I would be labeling Wistrom as some great visionary or business mogul.

Basically he is the legal version or James Franco's character in Pineapple Express.

I was thinking maybe the rural farmers could stop using all their land to grow crops, and raise cows and other animals. Then just start growing giant pot fields. Then Nebraska's greatest natural resource can be weed.

The only problem is all the farmers would have to start to understand progression, and then the next thing you know Nebraska will have Casinos, Amusement Parks and a giant lake in Ashland.

As Triumph the Insult Comic Dog would say

I kid! I kid!

or the farmers, would progress to have needles and fecal matter all over small town streets, they would all be on Truvada..
and Trump would have to call it an environmental hazard.

It was labeled a Schedule 1 drug because of who was using not the effects

I say we legalize it all. Marijuana, cocaine, heroin, you name it. Tax the hell out of it, but not so much that the illegal drug dealers can compete. And then sit back and watch Darwinism reclaim the American population. Hell, we may even kill two birds with one stone. Eliminate the stupid people in this country and put a hurting on the drug cartels.

That all seems fine until it drags your son or daughter down.

Leave it to a bible thumping Iowa fan to stir the pot about the marijuana debate on a Nebraska board.

a family member was drug down by their drug of choice, the illegality of it had very little to do with its use.
So, let's make it legal so that its use can be more widespread and accepted by society. Brilliant. I hope this situation never touches your family.

Uggg, don't get me started on that missed opportunity in Ashland. ******* morons. That would have been amazing.

I have a feeling the state will start to come around and get less stupid...

No reason not to have casinos...I don't care about pot at all but it will make money and it will help farmers (lord knows farmers LOVE getting help...they might have to actually farm now but they will make cash)...sports books would make a killing in this state and I still dream of that Ashland lake!

Most of us know when this will all start to change...one person is still holding a lot of this back.

Why would you want to put a huge lake near 80% of the state's population when then are barely any lakes for recreation near said population.

Same with the motocross track they wanted to put between Lincoln and Ceresco years ago.

Not in my backyard!! Should be the state motto

Hahaha! I thought you were serious for a moment!

No **** though...a giant huge lake that people would/could actually use, with homes that people would love to buy, partying, boating, FUN!

**** that! Much easier to drive 6 hours and let the local cops wait to bust everyone they can for having an open beer on the lake.

You know what is awesome...having fun on a lake that you can drive to in under an hour...you know what sucks? Not having that.

I understand your concern but marijuana is not opiate or other hard addictive drugs. I live in Washington and many use it for pain control of some illness or another. In fact I use it the same way and do not use the oxycodone prescribed by my doctor. This drug has many medicinal qualities and many positive uses

id argue many people do it because it is illegal...
but read my post.
thats exactly what happened.

Perhaps, but

While I understand their may be some medicinal uses, the recreational use continues. This recreational use has and will continue to lead towards a downward spiral for many users, mainly youth and young adults who are not prepared to deal with the harmful consequences and addictions. I've seen it affect family members first-hand and wish this on no one.

Yeah, I don't remember the exact details of it now but basically there was talk of essentially flooding an area of Ashland and creating a big *** recreational lake. It was awhile ago, I am sure someone knows way more about it than I do.

Nice response. Alcohol is way worse than the wacky, yet you seem like you are a government official from the 50's just trying to spread fear, but yet will have nothing to back your claims.
My drunk neighbor just recently went to prison and he is getting evicted along with his wife and son moving in with her mother because he drank too much and did some bad ****. Guy was so ****** up he thought dragonflies were bats.

Sorry...subtle attempt at humor. Some people can't handle their booze, some can't handle weed. Neither one is good for society IMHO. Just so happens that weed is illegal and I think it needs to stay that way.

I'd say make caffeine illegal too while we are at it.
