That’s very good news.
If he works on getting north/south AND gets some improved OL play, he could put up some numbers.
Allen is the X-factor as far as how they split carries. Allen could easily take over #1, but Grant runs tough and steady.
Need both to stay healthy.

I believe Tommi Hill is back as well. So apparently nobody out right now for academic reasons.

I hope Grant keeps his head on straight so he can play, he’s been the most reliable back in years. If he can’t get north/south maybe they could scheme some stretch or even off tackle plays to make him more effective. No offense to Allen, just always leery of guys who have serious injuries like that.

I'm not sure a broken collarbone is anything to be too leery of.

If he wants to come back and perform like he did in the last half of last year he isn't going to do much other than sit the bench.

Ervin reminds me of Ozigbo...a guy that keeps showing up and working hard despite other RB's getting more hype. I hope he turns into the dependable every down RB Ozigbo was.

I’ve said it a million times on this board.

RBs, Starting Pitchers, and cars are all the same. They can only take so many miles. You can’t overwork them. And once most of them breakdown, they never run quiet run the same.
But when you find a really good one, you hold on to it. Because the great ones are rare

I felt like the staff really really overworked Grant last year after Allen went down. The quick turnaround @ Rutgers after a major workload against Indiana was what i felt really slowed Grant down. I know he had an awful line but he lost a gear mid way thru the year

I just think him and Allen are clearly the best backs on the team. In a different tier then everyone else. Ervin looks great on paper. I just have yet to see it translate to a game

I’m still curious about what Erwin can do, and I know he’s hungry. A bit unproven, but he started as a true frosh for a reason.
The best case scenario is quality depth to manage the workload and elevate the competition.
None of our cars will do much if they don’t have the road graders clearing the way.
With defense in flux, we absolutely need the offense to catch lightning to stand a chance in year 1.

I don't think we have seen even a hint of what Grant can actually do.. he was like some super star Juco, and he maybe had 2 plays last year that made you go.. ohhhh wow.

I completely blame the staff last year and like someone else said, they overworked him, and the RB coach was a major downgrade from Coach Held.

We might get to see some decent RB action during the spring game, as I don't think they will hold back on that position.

18 carries a game is overworking? I guess I remember the days when they had workhorse backs who carried people with them and got stronger as the game went on. Sometimes 30-35 carries per game.

Is that the average? if so then you're right. I do recall the first 3 games being really good, then he dropped way off. His running style also seemed to change, where he was trying to go east and west too much, and we don't know why he started running that way. Was it coaching? Trying to make something happen? OL breaking down too quickly, did he have any injuries? I don't know, but he seemed like a different guy the rest of the season.

I like Grant. I think he got frustrated by the playcalling and oline play and started improvising.
