B+

For those of you talking about Utah and SC in the same breath as Evansville - you realize that Utah would've been a Quad 2 win and SC would've been Quad 1?

Not great losses for Kentucky, but they're closer to losing to a ranked team than losing to Evansville.

I would say an A+ if not for Evansvile Evansville Evansville...and would have said B- if they lost to both UT and Florida.

So they get an A- in my book. We lost to teams we shouldn't have but we won 4/5 of our biggest games after Christmas.

It is hard to judge any Cal team (with rare exception) prior to Christmas.

We could’ve easily won every game we lost. Evansville and Utah speak for themselves. Absolutely no way we should’ve lost those two and still had a chance to win both in the end. Ohio St. went to the wire. It could’ve gone either way. We blew a 15 point second half lead and had some very bad calls down the stretch, and still lost on a 30 foot buzzer beater at USC, Jr. 44 to 24 free throws at Auburn. Nuff said. And then the collapse of a 17 point second half lead. We should’ve realistically won 3-4 of those games, but **** happens.

B+. We beat Louisville and won the SEC. Long-term, those are my standards for regular season success. I REALLY wanted to beat Auburn at their place. Nick and Quick’s development have been pleasant surprises, and, for the first time in years, I’m not worried about blowing a game at the free throw line.

Somewhere between a B and a B+. Winning the SEC should always be a big deal. It’s not worthy of some large celebration like it would be for the other SEC teams, but anyone downplaying it is nuts to me.

With that said, this team loses big points for the bad losses, and the lack of blowout wins. This is partially negated by the fact that we won some big games this year (UL, Mich St, TT etc), but good lord the amount of close wins and grind it out games has taken a toll on me.

It’s not the regular season, but if they win the SEC Tournament it becomes a solid B+ for me.

A.

Won the SEC, which is the goal of the regular season. Beat Louisville. Beat Michigan State when the Spartans were ranked #1.

Downgrading for November losses is like taking letter grades off for the early drafts of a paper that were never turned in. Certainly Kentucky more than most programs, and Calipari under the OAD system, should be allowed to have some time to build a team that was replacing Tyler Herro, Keldon Johnson, PJ Washington and Reid Travis. It is foolish to expect a team replacing that level of talent and experience to click on Nov. 15 or whatever.

We go through the early struggles with freshman every year. It's normal, fans need to put the big boy panties on and ride it out, good or bad. What I think, and the fits I throw watching the games is my wife's problem. LOL.
I give them an A for effort through adversity.

I'd say an A--.

Pros:

Regular season champs
83% conf win %
81% season win %
Beat U6...then ranked #3. But U6's ranking really doesn't matter as long as UK beats them!
Beat Mich St..then ranked #1
Recovered from 18 pt deficit on the road against the gators
8-2 on the road

Cons:
17 pt loss to UT on Senior Night at Rupp
Evansville
Utah
SC
We didn’t lose by the 17... we blew a 17 point lead
