I agree with most but also want to provide a counterview.

Most on this board think the SEC officials suck. They make $3000 a game. Horizon League officials make half that. Where are the good officials then? Shouldn't they also be in the SEC? Fans are obviously too hard on officials most of the time (sometimes it is warranted).

Being a ref is hard. The players are faster and more athletic than ever. It is hard to catch everything. Not to mention every hates officials and all they get is abuse. Why sign up for that?

There is accountability within conferences, it may just not be public. Again, it is hard enough to be an official, do you want the League to publish a list of every mistake they made in every game? There wouldn't be officials.

Most conference coordinators take feedback from coaches, address issues, and reprimand officials. The public just doesn't see that.

bad call and doug is just saying what most fans experience on a nightly basis. i'll bet a call like this would be been changed last night year but we wiped out the replay rules because refs and coaches were abusing it. now we have a challenge system and you can only look at out of bounds and clock stuff.

Ive often heard that NFL home teams have about a 3pt advantage on betting sites. That makes sense.. home crowd, home team a little more fired up, opponent might not be as accustomed to weather, etc. And there may be a slight "home team" call.. although its really very minimal.

College basketball on the other hand may be a 12 to 15pt difference for the home team. You regularly see home teams shoot 20 more free throws than the away team. Here's a good example.. Kansas beat ISU earlier this year, at home, by 20 something.. then when Kansas had to go to ISU, the cyclones won at home by 20 something. That type of difference should never exist in this sport

With how much corruption we have been seeing in our everyday lives lately, I would not be surprised if this is a concerted effort by the NCAA to help home teams win, to generate buzz for the sport and get fans of home teams to buy tickets, while also helping some other programs that they prefer (Duke, Kansas, etc).

Nothing, and let me emphasize NOTHING, will ever be done to fix this officiating until they have to get behind that microphone with video questions in a post game presser and be held accountable, and this will NEVER happen because of the money involved with everything these days. It’s a sham, it sucks, it’s criminal, and everybody hates it with the exception of Duke and Kansas fans. Duke even gets the benefit on the road most of the time. They kind of give KU fans the middle finger on the road sometimes. Other schools kinda get a generous whistle at home but nothing like the obvious 2. Nothing will ever get in the way of the referees working to make the outcome where they want it around the spread, but it’s a shame these kids have no control over their own competitive outcomes. Hell, some of them are crooks too.
