After first watch I enjoyed it more than last week. Except the Arya scene. I didn’t need that. Ever. Worst scene of the series. Ghost made a cameo though. And it seems Dany is a power hungry ***** that doesn’t give a **** about the people anymore.
Who’s going to be left to fight Cersei? Do they lose Winterfell and the dead make their way to Kings Landing? That’s kind of what I’m thinking. What few can retreat head to Dragonstone or Pike and then head to Kings Landing where the final battle between everyone ensues.

Eh. Worst scene of the series was Stannis’ daughter being burned at the stake.

I, too, hate some of the lazy character development on certain cornerstones. Dany has been for the people forever and mostly unselfish, fighting any selfish tendencies. Now she’s become kind of selfish, fighting her unselfish tendencies (obviously, she did bring an army to fight for the living).

Why Jaime thinks the living couldn’t take the Golden Company if they survive the dead is beyond me. Common sense would lead Jaime to believe that if they beat the dead, the dragons would have had to survive. Or at least 1. I take several thousand battle tested warriors and a dragon over the Golden Company.

I've watched the first 2 seasons and was gifted seasons 3 and 4 today. I'm sure it'll pick up but the first 2 episodes of season 3 are lacking. Find myself nodding off.

I made the mistake of rewatching season 1 this past week and I strongly recommend not doing this before watching the current season. There is a noticeable difference in the writing.

The dialog was so bad through the majority of the episode, the lack of source material is really hurting the screenwriters. The writers setup these scenes which should be big pay offs for people who have been invested in the series for years and the dialog is so flat and boring reads like fan fiction because it resorts to forced exposition and scene writing tropes.

I hate when people say these types of episodes are filler but honestly episode 1 and episode 2 should have been a single episode that was 80 minutes and alot of the dialog between characters cleaned up.

6 different characters said the crypts will be the safest place. So yeah...everybody in the crypts is gone after next episode.

Grey Worm retiring to Florida.... yeah he's dead.

Jorah moves from friend zone on over to the KIA list next week.

Arya was down even before Gendry dropped the Bobby B. info.. but she was looking at him like he was a side of beef after he said it.

Theon goes out after full redemption guarding hot wheels next week. Sansa was saying her good byes to him at the end.

I wasn't crying when Jaime made Brienne a knight... really....

Pod must be the 8th wonder of the world in the bedroom.

Yeah the crypts are full of....dead people. Dead Ned

Grey Worm comes back as a WW along with a couple other characters.

Arya kills the Night King with her fancy new spear just as he gets to Bran.

To me, this is just waaaaay over analyzing the episode. You sound like an English teacher grading a paper. It’s a TV series in its final season with a purpose for entertaining, that’s it.

Personally, I’m watching to see some dragons 17 **** up in battle and who takes the Iron Throne for good and how.

Anything else is a bonus. Like the scenes with brienne and Tormund. And if you didn’t laugh at his giant killer story, I got nothing for ya.

Some people would call this a filler episode, but I thought it was fantastic. I think we just said goodbye to A LOT of fan favorites. IMO the devastation next week will be worse than most expect. It’s been a lot of fun. Nice knowing you, Theon, Tyrion, Sam, Gilly, Jorah, Beric, and Davos/Tormund.

Way too much cheesy interaction with Tormund and Brandon Walker. The Arya scene was awkward. I think Maisie Williams just wanted to sex scene to prove to the world that she's all grown up. There was about 25 minutes too much of dialog. The episode wasn't bad, but it's not one that I'm even remotely excited to watch again.

I agree totally. Once they got ahead of the books the quality went down. Just average now, not as good as it was.

Agree. If people think this was a filler, wasted dialog or whatever, I'm not sure they can be made happy unless they just want intense action. I like intense action too, and next week we'll get it, but to me the character interaction in this episode was the perfect set up and extremely entertaining for those who have been watching from the start.

Cersei dies by the dead versions of Tyrion and Jamie. Bran takes the throne as the NK.

IF the Night King's true goal is to kill Bran...and IF this isnt the final battle between the living and dead with some retreating to Pyke or Dragonstone as some have theorized, the fact that Bran is being protected by the Iron Born is probably significant. That causes me to doubt that Theon gets whacked.

Interesting back story re: Jenny's Song - the song Pod is singing. It's about a Targaryan Prince that gave up his right to the throne for a woman. Foreshadowing what happens with Jon and Dany.

Jaime is by far the most interesting character on the show at this point. Would hate to lose him next week.

I still believe that the preview scenes of Arya running through the halls of Winterfell scared is a reaction to her dead ancestors waking up. Looks like she will have the hound there to help. I think he may die helping her escape. Which would suck because we wouldnt get the Clegane bowl, but then again maybe Arya will off the Mountain.

Agree Grey Worm and Jorah are going to get it next week...other guesses include Brienne, Tormund, Hound, Beric, Edd, Pod

I think Arya goes full "bard" and kills the ice dragon with a spear. Not that we've ever seen that before.

I’ve gotta say, the whole crypt thing is one piece of the story that’s really bugging me. To start, there’s something downright asinine about using a place full of dead people as a safe zone when you’re about to do battle with a guy that uses dead people for his army.

Second, the sure did talk about the crypt being the safest spot in Winterfell about two dozen times last night. I’ve got no problem with a little foreshadowing, but come on...

If how the NK dies is based off of the books, then that is plausible. GRRM loves Tolkien and his writing is heavily influenced by LOTRs

Big battles are awesome to watch, but GoT was built on episodes like this one. All the behind the scenes plotting and human beings just sitting down and talking while envoking real emotions. Big battles were rare in the first few seasons but that’s when the show was at its best. Thought last night’s episode was one of the best ones of the last 3-4 seasons.

It did feel like a farewell episode. I don't think Sam or Tyrion die though. I think Sam lives until the end and writes the "song of ice and fire".

i appreciated that aspect. They finally brought everyone back together and said their hellos and goodbyes.

this is why i think people that are complaining about the last two episodes and the writing have no clue what the 17 they are talking about. lot's of foreshadowing and undertones all over the place. I've thought some of the plugs the through in were great.

the actor said it was pretty awkward for him. He is in his 30's and he has known her since she was 11. I imagine that would be really awkward.

I've enjoyed the show since day 1. I've read most of the books too. But the past 2 episodes have had plenty of filler. I think you could have cut 20 minutes of dialog out of it and arrived at the same conclusions. I know it's going to be impossible to end this thing in a way that makes everyone happy. I just think they've lost a little magic since the first couple of seasons.

To be clear, it's still my favorite show on television.

Episode 1 was about saying hello. Episode 2 was saying goodbye.

There's a good quote by Tyrion that applies to GoT as a series, "A wise man once said a true history of the world is a history of great conversations in elegant rooms." That's something that's often forgotten in the face of dragons and sex and murder and zombies - so many of the most important moments in the series are people in rooms talking.

As for next week - they tied up so many loose ends that we shouldn't be surprised with anyone's death. The only truly safe characters for me are Jon, Dany, Jamie, Bran, and Arya. The first 4 still have stories left to tell, and the Arya moment in next week's trailer seems to indicate that she flees a lost battle.

Almost certainly going to die: Brienne, either Grey Worm or Missandei, Gendry, Ghost, Ed, Jorrah, Berric
50/50: Tormund, Sam, Lyanna Mormont, Podrick, Theon, Davos
Probably going to live: Sansa, Tyrion, Sandor, Varys, Gilly
