I think I would take USC's portal WR Robinson 6'6 220 lbs and is a speed demon over Key. Deuce has way more up side or has a higher ceiling than Key. I highly doubt Deuce has interest in us though. Hell I'd even take Will Pauling from Wisconsin and he was their best receiver and now in the portal.
the last Cal WR to transfer here (wore #9, can't even remember his name) was a major disappointment

If Nebraska recruited and landed a pile of poo with a helmet and pads there would be a group that would act like we found the next Jerry Rice. Honestly I think this guy will be servicable, but he isn't any better than landing Banks last year.
My Koolaid glass is locked away with the fine china. Until we win at a consistent level I am not taking a sip. This fanbase is the kings of "Next year we'll be where we need to be". After hearing it for the last 20 years since Callahan I am burnt out.

watched hunter last night and he has "it". UNLV also had a freshman reciever that was pretty good.

I like him a lot just from that clip. Not just the catch but understanding the game situation, and hustling to get the ball spotted and lined up again. We need more high IQ players.
Banks would have been just fine if he didn't have a HS kid coaching him. He got dramatically better when DH arrived.

I too am frustrated. But not so much that I’m gonna call out fans excited about a recruit.
I think next year we do pretty good, the offense will be more complementary to the defense, special teams too.

Banks is a good receiver. He struggled in blocking but our offense did him a huge disservice in not throwing his direction nearly enough. When he doesn’t come down with it he’s drawing a flag or making refs look paid-off.
I won’t even compare this dude to banks because he isn’t as proven but he put up very good numbers for his age, better than Banks as a redshirt frosh. Different kind of receiver though. Love the pickup, I think he’s the quintessential Holgorsen receiver.

Regardless of any outcomes, it just tastes better going down and even coming back up.
To be fair, other than blocking, I thought Banks looked very good this year. He was just screwed over by a terrible offensive coordinator that had the offense spiral downward. He could've had a much much better year statistically if the OC change happened before the season.
