Lesser known is he played his first professional hockey for the Omaha Knights of the USHL (different franchise than more recent iteration of Omaha Knights, and also different USHL than the current league). RIP Mr Hockey.

The current version isn't, no, but if you read my post, I said it was a different league than the current version. The Omaha Knights that he played for was a member of the USHL, a league that was formed post WW2 as a revival of the American Hockey Association. It was a minor professional league, which operated from 1945-1951.

Had the opportunity to meet Mr. Howe here in Omaha about 11 years ago. He was such a nice gentleman and very generous with his time meeting with other folks at the evening's event.
