Cut a number of sports citing COVID

He took a pay raise recently - the amount which, coincidently, is almost exactly equal to the operating expenses of the sports he cut

scumbag

Playing tennis in Minnesota was never a good idea.

This was from a year and a half ago, still don’t understand it.

I play tennis at Baseline, the University’s tennis center. It’s quite an impressive facility. Each court had huge banners from donors hung over them… some decent names over the years, like David Wheaton family court… none of the banners remain. I don’t know if donors are pissed and no longer donate as a result of men’s tennis being cut, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.

I know, men’s tennis, big deal… but it really is a shame.

I don't care if a school cut sports so long as they were money losers but ya best not be giving the AD a raise in the same amount. That's just evil.
Yea, you would think they would need the money for repairs on that Barn they play basketball in and pay rent at US Bank stadium for baseball till they can play outside..

This raises a larger question of why should colleges and universities support any sport to a significant degree. Perhaps, all sports ought to be club sports that receive minimal support as part of an enrichment to the school environment but expecting a school to be a semi-pro feeder to professional sports just isn't what higher education should be about.

It takes a high roller to make those kind of gutsy moves. Worth every penny.

Probably
