This is a new team with 5 guys who weren't here last year all of whom appear to be pretty good, a MASSIVE upgrade over the guys wel ost. I don't like Cal either have said I want a new approach many times. It didnt happen. For better or worse Cal will be our coach next season. Good teams will make us play 4 on 5 on offense like last year. It was a successful tactic.
If only Calipari would let one of his assistants coach the team come tournament time. If he doesn't, we all know what's gonna happen. The team plays great during the regular season & by the time the NCAA tournament rolls around, Calipari with his constant screaming will have his players playing as tight as a banjo string with missed free throw after missed free throw & yet another season without a Final Four. We've all read this book before.
People can scoff all they want but this is a legitimate issue. We have seen them tighten up often and at key stretches , we have seen them play better on the road when he has been kicked out. I have not criticized his offense as much as others because I think it has been more around personnel (players that create spacing) and letting them play.
It is much tougher to be the hunted, than the hunter. Kentucky players are always nervous, but especially so when inexperienced in playing for Kentucky. It takes time even for most transfers to adjust to playing under the bright lights.
