20 years seems too long, but there are probably escape clauses and/or renegotiation clauses built in for both sides.
Ya think? Cracks me up that people think that wouldn't be built into the contract. There is nothing bad about this in any way. And most of us will still call it the RAC...

People cringe when he posts. The elevator doesn't go all the way up.
It’s amazing, I attack the inept AD. And so called fans attack me. Why? Why do you defend…the guy who
1-Hired Ash-best interview
2-Named our stadium SHI_
3-Opposed Schiano 2.0 for obvious political reasons
4-Yelled obscenities at the press

need I go on! Hobbs is a albatross from another time.
Are you just dumb?

Anyone know what the other B1G Basketball programs received when they made their naming right deals for their basketball arenas
Right now , to me, it seems like Hobbs didn't do to shabby with this Jersey Mike's deal.

I know you're waiting for the new Maryland basketball naming right deal to happen so it proves this one's terrible. But then again, it might not.
Maybe you can show the other B1G Basketball naming right deals and have them show how bad Hobbs messed up on this one.

1.You are living in the past.
2.You hate Hobbs for some reason
3. Hired Schiano
4. The press loves him.
5. You haven't been paying attention to Rutgers sports success
6. You are a complete nut job with all your posts void of facts.
7. Time to get back on your meds.

The old Maryland deal makes this one look awful.

20 years now??
Is it exclusive??

No Rutgers fan. Have no idea who you root for. Who on this board knows you personally? Willing to say you are a Rutgers fan, seen at games? I guessing just a troll on here with no friends period.

Escape clause. I get this image of Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder in The Producers.

maybe, but Maryland has a name in basketball , was in a conference (ACC) that had a great basketball fan following and did it for 20 years.
Do you know any B1G schools to use as an example ?

Grind that axe, buddy. Not going to much left but a nub at this rate. Hey, quick question. When was the last time 3 facilities got built in one AD's tenure? The last time 4 teams were ranked the same calendar year? The last time we didn't hire a football staff on an FCS budget? Seriously, Eeyore, things have never been better here.

Are you nuts? Another Hobbshi_ fumble.
Jersey Mike’s Arena just rolls off the tongue for the next 20…20…20 years. If it’s an exclusive contract, it will hold us back for a generation. Bet we are getting hosed!
And this, children, is why you stay away from paint chips. The red ones are particularly harmful in mental development.

We are getting $28. Million. How much of that for. Paint?
$1.4M per year for 20 years for naming rights.

see a list of naming deals here

Illinois is getting $2M per year for 30 years (only listing big ten basketball examples)
Maryland is $25M for 20 years.. with Comcast who has so much money
Nebraska 25 years for only $11.25M
Ohio State does not mention the term of the $12.5M deal

So.. it is not bad by those standards.. though NC State has an $80M deal for 20 years. Don't worry.. if Rutgers Basketball goes gangbusters there will be other revenue opportunities. And if Jersey Mikes wants to advertise more for Rutgers games on various networks because they swung this deal.. there will be a trickle-down effect in our favor.. more exposure and maybe some broadcast features during games...

I hope this is a good deal for everyone.. if so, the money will flow and this revenue stream will just be the beginning of it.

Wasn't Ground Round's thing popcorn?
They served both free of charge, but the board of health put the kibosh on throwing the peanut shells on the floor so the peanuts were discontinued. Upon being seated the wait staff brought their customers a basket of popcorn, which made everyone so thirsty they probably drank a lot more.

Guess you’ve never been to Texas Roadhouse. Peanut shells on the floor is still a thing.
only ever saw the popcorn at GR.

You do realize that other sponsors can be added right. They have exclusivity on the floor

Hobbshi_ is an aviatar for our AD. And he’s named after our stadium. The T is silent. Oh, and your grand prize is a free TV set!! Cringe!!

I like a deal with Jersey Mike’s, but 20 years seems way too long. Imagine if he had hired Ash for 20 years.
So I've given it some thought, and I've decided that Hobbshi_ is the worst nickname I've ever heard of. I can't believe you're still bent out of shape over the stadium's naming rights. Literally nobody out there has an issue with it other than a handful of knuckleheads trying to construe more than doubling the naming rights revenue in year 1 and more than tripling it in year 7 as a knock on Hobbs.

NC State is in the Research Triangle area along with Duke and UNC. For basketball it's a unique area and really can't be used for comparative purposes. The rivalries (and ratings) are beyond belief.

Reminds me of McCormick's in NB, which closed maybe 10 years ago. Best dive bar pub in NB, with game boards painted on the tables, a great, small (7 foot) pool table, an awesome juke box, great beers (although we would often go for the generic pitcher of unnamed "cheap beer" for a couple of bucks), cool attitude and yes, free peanuts on the bar and shells everywhere.

yes.. I think they will. How old is Subways? There is no reason why a successful franchiser must fail in X years. I don't think "subs" are a fad.

Yeah but Subway went from hot, top-tier fast food franchise (back when Snapple was pure fire) to something of an outdated joke over the past 25 years.

Also, remember Quiznos? I didn't until I read a recent article about its drastic decline.

I think JM is better than both, but things change, so who knows.
