Interesting.

All this time, I was under the impression Ace and Dylan came to Rutgers in part because of Adidas (ie: $$$) rather than in spite of Adidas.

Weren’t there rumblings this summer that renewal contract was never consummated. And part of it was due to carve outs that certain coaches/players wanted in order to maximize NIL. Easy to understand considering some of the NIL for Ace and Harper came from fanatics and Nike.

"Adios Adidas"?
“Auf wiedersehen Adidas”!
Both are fine , but the message posted should be

No more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road Adidas and don't you come back no more
What RU say?
Hit the road Adidas and don't you come back
No more, no more, no more, no more

RU should consider making a branding deal with Fanatics. Yes, the MLB uniform thing started poorly, but now they’re branding the NHL uniforms. Colleges will probably be next.

I’m thinking that’s what lead to the delay in finalizing the adidas contract. Fanatics was a major part of the Ace and Dylan NIL

Fanatics is not known for quality or longevity in their products. And this was before the MLB thing.

Maybe at the real athlete level compared to fan ware it’s better.

Agreed. Don’t think it’s a good idea. Find it extremely odd that Hobbs announced renewal with Adidas then didn’t sign the contract. And within that timeline deals are hammered out with 2 of the biggest recruits in program history with fanatics being the one of the lead source of funding on NIL

I agree their stuff is cheap quality at high prices. I now buy from the team’s pro shop, same price better quality

Does quality and longevity matter for jerseys and socks(not really sure what they would provide other than the obvious)?

I would imagine teams wear all brand new gear every game.
So the concern while still present maybe isn’t as big as a fan buying a jersey and wearing/washing multiple times.

Do players reuse jerseys?
Is this an incredibly dumb question (likely)

We already went through this with Adidas.

Pretty decent athlete gear, mediocre fan gear.

(I will say, Adidas has made great strides in their fan gear as compared with when we first partnered up.)

pretty smart on Adidas part. Rutgers has lost all leverage for a Nike deal now.

I wonder if shoe companies are dealing directly with players now anyway... and, of course, with the name brand programs. I think the ultimate answer is for Rutgers to partner with Dylan and Ace (and teh players) to play sneaker companies off each other.. Dylan and Ace still gets theirs.. but they also get a deal for teh school and the other players at the same time. If they just work their separate deals.. well, that kinda screws everyone else.

Also.. weren't Rutgeers people.. or was it this board's people.. who were posting pix of their shoes on X prior to the St. Johns game? I mean closeups of the shoes and posts highlighting them.

Not helpful in retaining the Adidas deal.

Fanatics actually spent a ton of money on upgrading and acquiring facilities to handle NHL game jerseys so I think this may be the perfect moment to outfit a college. But perhaps this situation was created by a Nike rep.

Good luck with that. Not only will I mostly likely never buy anything Nike again, but I will NEVER buy anything from Fanatics ever again. Worst quality merchandise ever.

Your entire team supplier is/will be based on 2 teenagers that will be leaving after ONE year?
No I’m thinking the discussions broke down with Adidas because there were NIL deals in the works lead by Fanatics and their biggest rival Nike.

I’m just saying it’s the company you keep.

Nike/Adidas > Fanatics

It’s like LA Gear shoes vs. Air Jordans IMO.

With the vertical integration they have, I’m actually convinced that Fanatics will gradually build and acquire known premium brands and become more valuable than the incumbents.

This will be the next Schiano excuse: inadequate practice attire. Won’t be long until he starts Paul Revereing that claim.

Maybe it is time for New Balance.

Cooper Flag went New Balance.. maybe there could be a package deal for Rutgers and the players.. New balance looking to make moves.

Get something done before Vegas when the college basketball world will be watching.

Gotta move quick.. BE AGGRESSIVE.

Harper's dad said his kids have worn Nike all their lives and will continue to do so......Need to try and find where I read that.

Nike will be the move and the smart move.
No.. smart move would be to play the market.. you cannot just go begging to Nike. You may want Nike.. but Nike would know that and any deal would be pathetic. Play hard-to-get the like Nike getting Rutgers would have some value to them. And that starts with talking to others.. even Adidas and New Balance and Underarmor etc.. but first.. get the players on board, especially the key players.. because that is who wears the gear.

Exactly Nike is the move! We lost one recruit to Illinois already over Nike.

Well hopefully if that happens their quality level will rise.

As of now most NHL fans do not like Fanatics jerseys.
