Good report on Noa

I'm trying to limit my camp season Kool Aid intake. Every year according to the team they're loaded with studs and for sure the goal is CCG win.

I like the Noa pick up but I banged the JUCO/Grad transfer drum real hard last year and we got very little from them.

Cautiously optimistic.

Don’t get Woodyard and Willams confused with Noa..

Noa has started on a Power 5 team the past 2 years..

Experience in power 5 games is huge. Actually making plays is even bigger. Just think how few huskers ever record a TD or get a sack or INT, how few of these record explosive plays.

I can't believe you don't jump on the summer "bigger, faster, stronger, more bought in (etc.)" hype. I think you are becoming jaded.

Wrt the Koolaid, nothing wrong with a glass or two. If Noa wasn’t showing in summer work, Adrian wouldn’t say squat about him. Stan’s productivity is going to need to be made up by committee. Noa looks to be a legit member of the group that can achieve that.

Picking him up is was huge, it’s going to make losing Stanley Morgan a little less painful..

Exactly and fully agreed, hes the perfect player to take JD Speilmans place, while JD slips over and takes Morgan Jrs place. At the WRs position, we will be fine this year and years to come. GBR

The key for ANY new WRs is whether they can block or not according to Walters. As he says, "No block, no rock". That's what limited Mike Williams playing time last year after having him come in with high expectations from the fans. Blocking and staying injury free will be the key to Noa's contribution this year and whether or not he's on the field.

And it will be interesting to see whether Williams and Woodyard picked up the blocking or not this year. They've got the speed. Have they learned the blocking yet?

My thoughts are, like they say, the coaches job to bring in better talent ratchets up the competition.
If the only thing holding some of the wide outs is blocking, let the competition begin, and roll the Kenny Bell tape.
Williams is a good receiver, and he needs to block, if he does, we have serious depth and talent, and dont sleep on the young guys.

And our JUCO RB also has a good Power 5 resume.

ACC Freshman of the year in a year when Clemson won a National Title is no small task. I’ll take him all day long. He has the potential to be an all conference type of player. Maybe not first team, but could land on some all conference list. Martinez, Mills, Washington, Robinson and Spielman all have the potential to end up on the all conference list by the end of the season. That’s a lot of talent at the skill positions on offense.

Wandale frosh of the year?

Without a doubt, I second that. He’s already put on some good weight and looking like he’s been here for years. He will make defenders look absolutely stupid out in space and it’s one on one for the tackle. He's to dam good to not be in the two deep, if not starting along side JD Speilman, Noa and Warner. Like someone already said, that’s a SOLID 4 WRs. GBR

Kid makes a lot of tough catches. Quicker than he is fast. Very involved in the offense for being a freshman at Cal. Has some nice blocking highlights. I think he will step in and have a decent roll this season.

Yes sir, I’m thinking 50-60 rc, 800-900 yards and 6-10 TDs. And that’s just Kanawai Noa. JD will be 70-80 rc, 900-1100 yards and 10-14 TDs. And I’m not even going to try and guess W Robinson’s stats. It could be anywhere from 30 to 80 rc, anywhere from 420-1200 yards and 4-15 TDs...;)

I think we will have 7 WR with at least 10 catches. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it is harder to do than you would think.

JD, wandale, Noa, and Warner isnt a bad start. Hopefully, we get something from Woodyard and Williams. And then anything from anybody else would be a huge bonus.
Sharpe and Benning made a comment on the radio last week that Stan Morgan being gone might be a net positive for Adrian Martinez. Not because Stan wasn't a highly productive and reliable receiver, but because Adrian leaned on him a whole lot last year. They said there were times when (specifically) Mike Williams was running open down the field and Martinez locked in on Stan. As true freshman QB with limited knowledge of the offense, especially early, who would blame you?

They were discussing what Frost had said about AM's command of the offense and how far he has progressed since last year. Guys like Williams and Woodyard, even though maybe option #3 or #4, should get their opportunities to make more plays this year now that AM 1) has better command of the offense and 2) hopefully doesn't feel so reliant on a single target (I realize the same thing could happen with JD this year).

Thoughts? Hearing that made me hopeful.

Glad to have a possession wr that is smart, knows what he's doing, and is actually fast with some explosiveness. He's not slow.
That would make two. He's definitely more elusive than Kade Warner, but Kade showed his value as a consistent option last year. With Warner, we have a reliable target who isn't going to take the top off of the defense, but he will block, catch, run good routes, and be a good teammate. Without him holding onto that 2pt conversion at Iowa last year (he got JACKED UP), we don't have a shot at the end. He showed that he knows how to freelance when a play breaks down, is able to take big hits and hold onto the football, and be where the quarterback needs him to be.

I still think Mike Williams could have a major breakout year. Dude is just a super athlete. Needs to get right upstairs and kick ***. Block and get the rock!

Seems many have forgotten about Miles Jones. He is another that could have a breakout year now that he is healthy and has had a year of S&C.
