I’m in Destin. Been drinking since 10:00 am on the beach with about 10 thousand other people. Being out of the house was awesome.

I got to go to work today and make a little money. Left work at 3, and I just caught 2 bass with my son in the boat. It’s a beautiful afternoon, and the bream are nailing crickets every cast from the bank as well.

My 5 year old has fell in love with fishing since we started quarantine. We go 3-4 times a week now. It’s been a lot of fun.

We drove to Jerry's fish house below Florence. First time ever in a drive through pickup at Jerry's.

Had two of their 8 piece catfish plates. Drove 60 feet and parked on their lot with the wife and had our catfish dinners. It was so good. Thank you Lord for all the guys who sein the ponds. Thank you Lord for all the folks who skin and fillet them. Thank you Lord for the fish truck drivers. Thank you Lord for all the folks at Jerry's.

My son plays College Hockey in Connecticut and has a call every Friday with his Head Coach. He asked my son was I home, got on the phone with him. He told me he never had a kid from the South. Very impressed with manners and his "Yes Sirs" and "No Sirs". That to me is just as important as his grades.

I’m loving this thread...

Don't rain on the good news thread. Still no itch.

I am an attorney who has had to cut hours during this Because work has slowed and I have to watch the kids (7,4,2) on the days my wife is working the hospital. With the slow down, it’s like I’m meeting my kids all over again. And we finished a house construction and moved in just before all this, so my shelter in place has been in a beautiful home as opposed to the small rental we were in just a few short months ago. I’m breathing much deeper.

My daughter graduates from MSU today as a Stephen D Lee Scholar

^^^^^ My son as well. Would've loved to see him walk across the stage but doesn't diminish what he accomplished. Amazing. Now, if we can figure this damn med school thing out. He's been rejected once. How does that happen w/ a 4.0 GPA in pre-med, 2 letters of recommendation from state elected officials and a 500 MCAT score, countless shadowing hours as well as volunteer hours in an underprivileged clinic? it baffles me and it's really frustrating to him. Fingers crossed for this second application in a week.

Well the sweet gubment check bought me some new quarantine proof patio furniture. So ive been playing the ol’ wooden axe outside in this nice weather.
Ive picked fishing back up. My 6 yr old son really likes it and i had forgotten how much i really enjoyed it.
I have not gained any weight during this pandemic. I was afraid i would with the gym closed.
Found out office depot delivers TP. Ive rewatched the Office several times while I am playing virtual office at the house. Not having to drive in this Memphis traffic everyday has cut down on my cursing.
Kroger pickup is cool. I made a bitchin’ meatloaf the other day. 17 you Betty Crocker.

My wife got a substantial raise and committed to another year and a half at work. We have to hold off on buying another home because of home prices near where she works, plus we want to move north of Austin. We get to put that money back and my home loan company said that rates are coming down and should stay down till we buy,

Great thread!

I put in my notice to my job this week in the middle of a pandemic. Next Friday will be my last day.

No sarcasterisks. This was a long time coming & a very, very good thing. New business & new job starts in 3 weeks. The woman & I are going to take a much overdue trip to a mountain house for a week. We'll take 2 days for ourselves, the kids will come up for 2 then leave, & 2 more for us.

Truly looking forward to getting away & the new job ahead!

That's a pretty notable achievement so congrats to him. It gets easier after the first year, so he should be all set.

Today, I had a 30 minute phone conversation with a very good friend who was on his death bed for 3 long days just two weeks ago. Yes, he had Covid 19 and spent over 5 weeks in ICU. Days 8, 9, and 10 were his hardest days just hanging on. He told me he prayed that God would just take him. He is now in a rehab center where he is learning to walk again. His spirits are high, and he is determined to regain his strength. Several underlying health conditions made his recovery extremely difficult. Man that was a great phone call!

Fortunate enough to still have a job. Was furloughed two weeks, and it was great because I got to spend more time with my now five month old. I feel bad saying this, but I wish it lasted a little longer because he’s learning something new every day and growing so quick. I feel lucky to have gotten some extra time in. We started sleep training this week and he pretty much caught on by the second night- game changer. I can get a solid seven hours of sleep now.

With your crazy urge to gamble like that, the very best thing for you to do ( I know you won’t) is sell while you are ahead (yes, I know you said you are even again). Selling and never getting back into the market again will mean you are truly ahead. I love the market but it is not for folks who take risks like you just described.

Been saving up for a major major purchase. Got greedy back in late February and decided to sink half into the stock market. Of course I lost half in a matter of three weeks. I was scared what my wife would say about me losing several thou.. Anyway I doubled down and bought the dip around March 26 and now I’m even again. Relief! Very grateful to the financial gods for giving me a second chance. Now what?

I became a great uncle last night to healthy baby girl.

Yeah, it's great to have grand nephews and nieces. I have one grand nephew, a grand niece, and another grand niece expected in August. Makes us old folks feel young again.
