I feel like we are really, really, really lucky we have this guy as our coach. You can decipher he is a guy who studies the game and isn't afraid to ask for advice our discuss things with other coaches. I really like that because it pretty much tells you he will never get stubborn or stuck in his ways. I hope we have him for a long time.

Yeah. Hope SC doesn’t come in and try to hire him away at some point. His daughters will be over there, the wife is from there, they plan to retire over there.

A lot of stars would have to align but a nightmare scenario would be grandkids living in SC and USC looking for a coach. Sounds like he already has a relationship with Tanner.

By all means, instead of celebrating the fact that we have a national championship coach with bloodline ties to the university, let's just constantly worry about when and if he leaves us.

Hopefully this will be one of the many perks of finally winning a Natty… the days of being lovable losers waiting on the other shoe to drop every time something good happens are over. It’s a new day to be a Mississippi State Bulldog.

I would not worry too much about Ray Tanner, dude has screwed more up for that baseball program since he took the AD position

In 40 years of fandom, I've learned to enjoy each success for what it is in its time. A big bowl game win is no indicator of the season to come - it should be enjoyed like a sweet piece of fruit at the time and left at that.

Few things last forever, but this year's championship trophy will always be ours. The only thing in my MSU fan experience even comparable would be the men's Final Four in '96. That was a special experience, though the baseball national championship far outstrips it of course.

It's human nature to look forward to the next thing to worry about. This is good practice in learning how to stop doing that.

Easy, trigger. I’m just stating the similarities between the two. I never said any Eeyore comments about losing a coach. Some of y’all sure do like to jump to conclusions to be the first to post a cool guy cut down.

Good part is though that when we have things like Mullen jumping to Florida, Schaefer jumping to Texas, etc. our fans are not caught off guard so its easier to deal with given its pretty much expected.

He just might go some day. First of all why not? A man his age who is already looking forward to the day when he can retire there certainly would entertain a move back there prior to that happening. Personally I think its probably more likely to be Clemson than USC. But if he does, he does. Our baseball program is not like women's BB. It was not built around one coach. We have had 4 other coaches take us to omaha before anybody ever knew who Chris Lemonis was. I hope he doesn't go anytime soon but if or when he does we will be just fine as we have proven time and time again already. Personally, I would be happy if he gives us another 10 seasons. In any case he will not be our coach forever so no use worrying about when he will leave.
