Thanks for your response and on the homework you’ve done. Yes I know player development doesn’t happen overnight and I’m not expecting natty this year or next. But Popes had these kids since last summer and I see nothing different in the skills around the basket of those I mentioned except MM since their first game. I expected at least some improvement from BG from last year but there has been NONE. It doesn’t take years to develop good footwork and can be done rather quickly if emphasized. I guess we will see if some of the bigs stick around for a few years but haven’t seen anything that gives me hope.
The thing you can hang your hat on with Pope his team plays hard and determined of course sometimes waiting until the second half. Recruiting of course is an issue currently but I believe will improve within a year or two which I believe takes some experience to do well.
Look at every Sr stud..the biggest jump is usually year 3 in a program. We gave the man an empty roster. Everyone points to our budget, but he had to get starters, rotation guys and bench guys...none knowing his system. It takes time, and he has done a great job all things considered. Folks on here looking back after the fact saying we could have had this or that...if they turn down UK, maybe its not Pope...maybe they just dont want to play here
