NE looked like the ball was on fire during that last possession. That was definitely an example of when you would want to call a timeout in order to set up a play. They all seemed frantic.

I don't think they had a timeout left.

I don't want a game decided on a ticky tack foul, but it would be nice if teams knew they weren't going to be allowed to hack with impunity on the last possession, which is what we're seeing.

And therein is a example of what I call the bit of luck the teams that win in the NCAA often get. Sure blame them for not having it available, but those are the little things which often happen.
You think Notre Dame has a shot at a ship?
I think they have a shot at beating anyone, like say UK, on a given day, but putting together a string of 3 wins over say UK, Wisconsin, and Duke. No. That takes a lot more than just a bit of luck.

Had the ball with 25 seconds left down 2 and couldn't even get off a shot that was just painful to watch. A few key late game plays they had the ball on a rebound and got called for a foul on the pass when the NE guy hit the ND guy in the face that cost them a possession and 30 seconds. The late cross court back pass stolen by ND cost them 2 points and not getting the final shot off. NE was in position to win this game and just made a couple bad plays and some bad luck.

Boise State did the same thing last night. Led the whole game and gave it up in the last minute. Had 3 possessions in the last 45 seconds with a chance to win and didn't get a decent shot off. Their best player had the ball twice, turned it over once and got caught in the corner in a trap at the end and couldn't draw the foul.
