you are drunk.

GILLISPIE HAS ALWAYS been a dogged recruiter, and he knows how to work a sales pitch. But, he says, this isn't just a pitch. Tarleton is coming. This is a fact.

"It's only a matter of time before it's a major league powerhouse. It's not going to take too long," Gillispie said. "I'm not talking about on an area level. I'm not talking on a statewide level. ...I think the word's already getting out at the national level because of how we played a lot of great opponents in the preseason. ... This is a legitimate championship contender."

His two years here were absolutely horrible. Pretty much blocked them out as only two things I remember. Meeks 54 at TN and this isn’t the university of Jodie Meeks halftime speech. Could live another 53 years and don’t think we will ever have a coach disliked as much as him. His teams played bad basketball, he was an arrogant ***, bad with press and fans. Just a completely horrible fit. I don’t care for cal as a basketball coach overall but no where near the disdain for him that I had for Gillespie. He just sucked!!!

It’s ridiculous how much better of a fit Calipari was.

This is what jumped out of the article. Who knows how many other schools are thinking this way - I suspect the number is pretty high

That matters in the new landscape of college sports, with the name, image and likeness rules allowing for players to earn money on endorsements. Mumme, Gillispie's old boss, is a Tarleton State alum who has his own NIL company and said he's hard at work helping the school. Gillispie said there are several people who have told him they are working to position Tarleton among the top of the Group of 5 schools.

"We're trying to become the absolute best one as far as the NIL opportunities for kids to come here," Gillispie said. "I want everybody to look at our roster starting next year and say, 'How did they get that guy?' This is real for us.'"

I have read where he got his life straighten out and I hope this is true. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance in life. Say what you will be he is a good X&O coach. He was just way in over his head at UK plus his drinking did not help him. I really hope the best for him.

I wish him the best, too. I hope he gets Tarleton off to a good start in DI and that's he's remembered well there.

If he needs an assistant -- gay porn star Christian XXX/Max Diesel played basketball at Tarleton and has some college coaching experience. Look at all of these porns Oscars he's won:

2007 AVN Award for Best Group Scene - Fashionistas 2
2008 AVN Award for Best Group Scene - Debbie Does Dallas ... Again
2008 Tranny Award for Best Non-Transsexual Performer
2009 AVN Award for Most Outrageous Sex Scene - Night of the Giving Head
2011 Tranny Award for Best Non-Transsexual Performer
2013 AVN Award for Best Transsexual Sex Scene - American Tranny 2
2013 Tranny Award for Best Non-Transsexual Performer
2013 Transgender Film Festival for Best Male Performance in a Long Clip - Forbidden Lovers
2017 AVN Hall of Fame

Hal Mumme's a Tarleton grad, too; maybe he and Coach Gillispie can have a drink together and discuss what fun they each had at UK. ;)

Mumme gave BCG his first head coaching gig - I'm surprised this is the first time I've heard this. Funny...

Don’t forget Pop Tart Perry and his NIT dunk. That’s about it.

My best memory of the BCG days is when he was running down the hallway (moments after being fired) pretending to talk on the phone while Alan Cutler and his camera dude chased him.
Definitely the best entertainment for his salary that we received.

It was absolutely embarrassing while he was the coach at Kentucky! Thank goodness the deep pockets boys had enough and told Mitch to get rid of that drunk

Damn his team this year held Gonzaga to their lowest scoring output all year. They damn near beat them. Billy played that delay possession offense he uses. Gonzaga almost got Billie G'd..
Ol' son of a B is not be underestimated as a slow ball coach. You know like Bennett at VA ...slow and delay offense.
I don't think we've heard the last of him. This new division one school that he's coaching has a legacy of winning. The president is a Kentucky guy. Watch out for Tarleton U!

Obviously, this job was too big for him and he's a drunk - I will admit, he was left with little and was the SEC Coach of the Year his first season here - then it imploded.

I didnt hate the guy, i just don't think he was ready for this type of coverage and expectations. Its obvious the man can coach, under normal conditions....but pressure does a lot of things to people.

Terrible hire. Should have never happened and hopefully UK never goes for the hot commodity again.

Glad he is doing well though.

I dont necessarily hate BCG as a person, he was not a good coach and has a lot of horror stories, but I think one of the reasons I give him benefit of the doubt is because we got Cal right after he left. No BCG implosion and the AD's hand isn't forced to find a new coach after 2 years that will WIN and WIN soon. Made the AD hire Cal and if we had 4-6 years of just an average/ slightly above average maybe Cal is at a place like Arizona right now and were still circling the wagon for our next great coach. Cal is really one of the last "great" coaches left in CBB with Williams and K going off into the sunset, it'll be interesting how the new era comes along as it was supposed to be Brad Stevens whether it was College or the NBA and he seems to have given it up for now.

Didn’t realize Tarleton was now D1.
Since Pandemic haven’t fillowed the local DII school West Texas A&M. They are in the same conference or were before Tarleton moved up. Have seen them play several times in the past.
