I think we’re getting too cute. I would much prefer a typically starting Boaz on a short leash with a typically relieving Glauber ready to go at a moment’s notice. Who do we go to if Glauber doesn’t have it? Bring Boaz out of the pen when he’s not used to it, especially with traffic on the bases? Cut out Boaz completely and piece it together with other relievers? Rise could give long relief, maybe? Ugh. I was nervous and now I’m nauseated. Feels like a change at first base to me.

funny you talk about being too cute.
Why don’t you TRUST the coach that got us here to begin with.
it’s an elimination game.
put the best pitcher out there and roll from there.

I don’t like it either. I know it was awhile ago, but Caden’s start at dook did not go well. At least when Ryan became the Sunday starter for the regionals last year, Forbes started him in the ACCT Championship game, so he knew how to handle the pressure. Having a freshman start in an elimination game never having to experience anything like it is a TON of pressure. Caden can do it, but it’s a lot to ask. I was really hoping to see Folger for a few innings, but have Caden be ready.

That’s an odd take to me. Caden is our best pitcher. Why would you not want him out there when he can go 100+ pitches today?

Boaz has typically made big messes for others to clean up by the third inning. We can’t risk a mess today, especially not with our best guy ready to go.

It’s not that I don’t recognize their relative pitching strengths, but I also know that pitchers are creatures of habit and I find it a bit worrisome that we’re changing it up now. I had thought it would be Boaz on a very short leash then Glauber immediately ready to go. They would keep their routine and we could still maximize time for Glauber. With that said, I’m certain the decision was not made without great consideration of all options, so we just have to trust it’s the right one.

Risks either way. I trust Forbes and co.
