1st year of having flag football in HS for girls. Not sure how conference is done or classifications. Max Preps shows Mooresville is 8-3 and Cuthbertson is 8-0 who beat Mooresville 38-6. Mooresville other loses is to Weddington. Schools like South Iredell, North North Iredell, etc. is not playing flag football. I would imagine over time this sport will grow. Anyone have any insights with this sport.
Girls flag football

It has taken off well in Wilmington. There is a lot of excitement and a lot of girls are interested. I have not attending any games yet but when I see highlights it looks like there is a decent crowd.
The one downside is the extra wear and tear on the fields. Eventually this will grow and have JV teams as well. Only NH has turf. Hoggard's field takes a beating. Last year Hoggard was a high seed in all this teams playoffs and made it to the eastern finals in football, mens soccer, girls soccer, mens lacrosse. Girls lacrosse had 2 home playoff games. All those regular season games and all those playoff games.

It has taken off in Wake County as well. This is year 4 for several of the schools in the Quad City 7 conference. The Cap 8 has had teams for awhile too. Participation is definitely up this season as far as the amount of teams and team sizes. Durham and Wake county have youth leagues. My prediction is that flag surpasses women's lax in participation and the amount of high school teams relatively quickly.
It will be interesting to see who coaches these teams. It is a different game than football, but Wake County pays a stipend and several former football assistants are the head coaches of the flag teams.

I'm pretty sure there are 3 classifications:8A, 7A, and 1A-6A
Conferences are just the same as the other sports unless there isn't enough teams in the conference
In Greensboro area, E Guilford seems to be the best team. They are 14-0, with 11 shutouts and only given up 18 points. SW Guilford is pretty good with an 11-3 record. Grimsley at 5-1. Rockingham Co 5-0. But who knows how good the competition is in this area.
Weird that some teams have played 14/15 games and some justb5/6
