I think the more egregious thing we should be talking about here is Schofield “taking a charge” NEAR HALF COURT.

That stupid **** is ruining the college game. Try and block the shot or get out of the way.

Taking a charge on a running 3...LMFAO.

Should be punished for even thinking of that.

Not "is ruining" the game, it has ruined the game. I absolutely HATE it with a passion. I'm with you, attempt to block the shot or get the hell out of the way.

One of the biggest reasons I cannot stand to watch duke play, because they play ***** ball. If they're not flopping, they're snapping their heads back on drives to the bucket. If they're not snapping their heads back, they're kicking their legs out on jumpers. If they're not kicking their legs out, they're tripping opposing players. If they're not tripping opposing players, they're ***** slapping the floor. I could go on, but I'm sure y'all catch my drift!

Been a ref for a long time and I don’t see a walk there at all. The charge was as obvious as the nose on your face. I bet u people would call if a smart play if Hagans did it and it gave us a victory over Duke. Geez.

Please tell me you only ref grade school and middle school games. That was a walk as obvious as “the nose on your face”. You’re only allowed 2 steps podge, not 3 which Grant Williams took. Bet you defended John Higgins too. [laughing]

Sorry if already asked...late to the thread... but the biggest question for me is WHY did he even try to draw a charge in that situation?

The first issue of whether it's travelling is very close call. In the old days that would've probably been called, but officials have gotten far more lenient about walks in recent years, so I understand why they let it go.

But the second issue the officials clearly got right. That was a charge. And it was one helluva play by the UT guy to get in position and take the charge in that situation.

I would call it the ***** move that it is and accept the win.

Good video.

I think a lot of people see walks everywhere, all the time, and are usually wrong. That was my thought here, because initially it looked like Williams was still dribbling on the first step, making the second perfectly legal. But he actually had 2 hands on the ball before that first step, so yeah, it's a travel. Still a very tough call to make in real time, though.

The charge is also a tough call, but it's exactly the type of play that should not be called a charge as far as I'm concerned, even if it often is. The defender should NOT be allowed to establish position under a shooter AFTER the shooter has left the ground.

He didn't. Guy was set way before the shooter left his feet.

They showed a replay during the game. One after the game. Three replays on SEC now, one from behind the play. None looked like a walk. Announcers or guys in studio never questioned it. Kermit never questioned it during or after.

The only ones noticing a walk are the expert refs on Rafters who wanted UT to lose. Go figure.

Just beat the Vols Saturday.
