I realize Clone fans want to hope the coaches made some huge additiin getting Ayala.

In reality, we won't know for a couple years.

Good wrestlers don't automatically make good coaches.
And DA was good, not great, in terms of results for his career.
Two time finalist us pretty great. He wasnt one of the elite or the elites like Spencer, Ed Ruth, Taylor, Metcalf, etc, but that's not the same thing.

83-26 career record, 3-7 vs ranked opponents this season, no national titles.

That's "good", not "great".

That said, he represented the University well.

All of this scuttlebutt makes Spencers' public execution of Ayala at SS that much more beautiful.
And likely when Dresser initially started "tampering".

Kevin Dresser really is a slimeball.

The entire motivation in Ames, as Lil Bro, is trying to emulate the Hawks.

I believe the relevant word is "obsessed".

Seems like being the 2nd best team in the country over the last 15 years is something a lot of programs would want to emulate.

Agree, but the Dresser/ISU jealousy is palpable and a bit embarrassing.
It obviously started at Virginia Tech and just exploded once the wannabes got to Ames.

Agree with everything and one more thing needs added it’s starts one level above at Pollard. Works well for fundraising.

We have Cass,Nelson and Assad that year we most likely get 2nd blanking on the 4th guy that had to sit out. but wasnt 2nd through 5 separated by a few points that year
2. Cornell 72.5
3. Michigan 71
4. ISU 68.5
5. Iowa 67

Bed shitters that year
Hawks #7 seed Glazier went 1-2
ISU #2 seed Bastida round of 12

Not having Cass cost us. We didn’t have a qualifier at 184, Probably Brand’s spot. I am not sure where Assad would have fit that year. Kennedy was at 174.

Assad 84 Nelson was a returning all American at 74 could of been similar to 2025 with Nelson and PK. If Nelson is R12 like PK was at this tournament Assad wins a couple matches instead of getting no points at 84 and Cass gets 3rd or 4th would that be enough to get 2nd?. Still thank we get Franek and Mikey that year there coach left NDSU so their portal window was different

He could turn out to be a solid coach, nobody knows yet. One thing we do know is that, if given the chance, their new HC and assistant would both be in IC coaching in a heartbeat if they could.
