Wait, what?
It was a CF meltdown after the 2021 Iowa win in Ames. Attacked Moriah, attacked Alex, said she wasn't qualified for her job in the program and implied there were shady financial dealings enabling them to buy their home and posted bank records online. Posted gross stuff about others as well. It was ugly.

Yeah I post there. Don't say anything over there I wouldn't over here and vice versa. I used to post to their wrestling threads until after that dual, I avoid their wrestling threads now. I live in Des Moines area and both daughters went to ISU. Mostly stick to non-sports topics. Get along with many over there, but I know there are many that can't stand me too. You obviously spend time there too. Lol. Stalker.

Drake to ISU is such a weird hire. I like Drake, don't get me wrong, but a guy who hasn't done anything at the international level and who lost to ISU's 133 pounder whose most recent NCAA finish was R12 is now coaching their guys? Is he going to be that guy that young blue chippers are going to want to go train with? I don't get it, but maybe if they get enough Iowa guys in their room they'll eventually turn it around. Lol. They'll definitely up their slide-by game.
It won't work. It sure hasn't worked for Iowa.

If TnT wanted Drake bad enough they could create the recruiting coordinator job for him. I can’t think of anyone who would be better at it.

That’s debatable. I don’t think he is so good you create a job just to keep him. If they ever have that position, I would hope they get a guy who is either experienced or from wrestling hot beds of Pennsylvania, Ohio, NJ, or even California.

Why do I have to speak for all ISU fans? I post plenty and my opinions are my own. You won’t find me mocking the hire.

So, you’re basically just admitting that you’re tearing down Drake because you don’t like ISU and in reality Drake is just as qualified a wrestler as many, many other coaches at programs better than ISU.
I don't like isu but I think Metcalf to head coach and hiring Drake as an assistant were very good moves on their part.

Tom did call Drake the best recruiter at Iowa during this past year. Either way, first step is creating the position and it’s much needed.

ISU is currently a program struggling to remain relevant.

Their recent NCAA finish verifies that.

Outside this State, neither the promotion of Metcalf nor the hiring DA moves the needle much in the big picture, imo.

Hypothetically of course, if ISU were to beat the Hawkeyes in a dual meet - would that make them more relevant?

Big congrats to Drake assuming he takes it.

One thing I raised my eyebrows at was the fact he spent last week coaching many Iowa recruits at the U.S. Open. Hopefully the lines of communication were open about the subject with Tom and Terry otherwise I could see how that might rub them the wrong way.
Well it sounds like my fears were warranted here. Truly unfortunate.

Ok, you are right - I get it.

What about if ISU were to beat Iowa in the team race at the National Tournament in the last couple years?
Would that help make them more relevant?
What makes you think an occurrence once every 15-20 years is anything but a "fluke"?

Because that's what it's referred to.
You're either trolling or ignorant.

I don't know that they were.

It would help. What also helped that is Iowa having 4 returning AAs deemed ineligible that season due to absolute BS. Even at that, they beat Iowa by a whopping 1.5 points...and haven't been close the following two seasons. That last part doesn't help.

We have Cass,Nelson and Assad that year we most likely get 2nd blanking on the 4th guy that had to sit out. but wasnt 2nd through 5 separated by a few points that year

Totally agree with this and the definition of fluke. Your definition of fluke is the same as saying, "It is a fluke that Iowa won 1 team title in the last 15 years of contested NCAA tournaments".

Nope.

Not even close.

I realize Clone fans want to hope the coaches made some huge additiin getting Ayala.

In reality, we won't know for a couple years.

Good wrestlers don't automatically make good coaches.
And DA was good, not great, in terms of results for his career.
