Obviously, we won't know for sure until then, but this reads as bad news. He hasn't even taken his official visit to Duke yet, which is scheduled for this weekend. Unless he cancels it, I have to interpret this as him calling it for Duke.

Everyone knew it was a longshot, but it still sucks.

So the last image in his mind from teh recruiting trail will be Big Blue Madness, with Anthony Davis hanging around, the UK dazzling facilities, and the cheers of a packed Rupp arena attending a scrimmage.
Yeah but apparently K is his milkman or something.

Unfortunately no, he is taking an official visit to Duke this weekend.

I've not been very optimistic about landing Giles. Which is too bad, he's like a Chris Webber clone. Can't win them all I suppose.

Good to hear. Won't have to see anymore pointless threads about him. Thisnone being an exception. Thanks, OP.

He's been Duke the whole way. Everyone has said Duke the whole time, for the last year. If you are disappointed by this, its on you.
You, in all your wisdom, should have let Cal know about this. I'm sure he would have appreciated it.

Yes, everyone knew he was likely to end up at Duke. Cal never stopped pursuing him, and got him to make an official visit 2 weeks ago. Excuse those of us who held out a glimmer of hope.

The only way I would consider being excited about this announcement is if De'Aaron Fox says he's announcing on that same day, and he lets that be known in the next couple of days.

Positive: At least we should get De'Aaron Fox somewhere around then.

Actually his last image will be of Coach K sitting at his birthday table holding a fuzzy stuffed bunny and smiling lovingly.

Too many people put too much stock into when a H.S. player takes an official visit whether it be BBM or some other weekend. If you're a 17/18 year old H.S. kid wouldn't you go? Free trip, free game, etc. Much like Harris from Berea last year in football. Went to almost all of our home games....then chose Bama.

I still think it's 50/50 we get him. I can't see Cal waisting so much time on someone he thinks he don't have much of a chance landing. I think we are still in play and the dookies should be worried. They could miss out on him much like we missed out on Newman & Brown last year.

Meh...

Let me preface with saying I would love to have Giles. Say he does go to Duke and we get Fox and Monk...

I wouldn't trade Monk and Fox for Giles and Tatum. Guards win in March

If we had ANY other head coach I would agree with the one's saying UK has no shot but it's very interesting to me how Cal has gone after HG lately. You never know with Cal.

Even though it's likely this kid is going elsewhere, i'm still going to believe we have a chance and will continue thinking this until it's official and he has verbaled to Duke or wherever he is going to play at. This kid would be the final piece to an all time epic class. Without him we are just looking at a great recruiting class. What a great situation to be in. Thank god for Cal.

Very on topic. Kudos. You clearly know a lot about Duke's facilities.
Mark, why open that can and not follow up with something to add to the conversation?

But how awesome would it be for Giles to say 'to the victor goes the spoils' 11/17?

Fox committing before Giles will be UK's last try at turning Giles. Point guard matters.

That would be unprecedented and pretty epic indeed.

I hate these kinds of bigoted comments. Just embarrassing.

By the way, Google Bar Rafaeli and let me know if you still think Jewish girls are frumpy.

Did I say all Jewish girls were frumpy, or just the duke cheerleaders? One would be a generalization, but the other would be entirely accurate. Would calling them zaftig have hurt your feelings less?
