So, he hasn't had the horses pretty much since 2012?

How do Dook and Vandy manage to get the horses from time to time?

Our horses are coming. Gonna be another two seasons before they can make a meaningful impact though.

They don’t have the academic restrictions we do.

Pffftt...

Then how the heck do the 'Cats consistently roll out a better Ds than those schools?

And it's usually more difficult to recruit on D when it comes to academics.

Well, if it's not the talent level, must be the coaching/scheme.

Let me tell you a story about the Vanderbilt football offense.

Vandy had 3 of their best recruiting classes of all time in a row. 4 star QBs, receivers and two all SEC O lineman to boot. Vandy also had a bad offensive coordinator named Karl Dorrell. That year the offense averaged 280 yards a game, 14 points a game and 2.4 turnovers a game. Karl Dorrell was fired. In comes Andy Ludwig from Wisconsin, Andy Ludwig is a good offensive coordinator. In Andy Ludwig's last year as an O-coordinator the team scored 28.5 points a game on 411 yards of offense per game they averaged just over 1 turnover as well. Keep in mind, Andy Ludwig did this with MUCH worse recruits, a number of them were older guys he didn't bring in, in fact these recruits were rated worse than Northwestern recruits over the same (despite much(?) easier recruiting standards). Now Andy Ludwig is at Utah, running one the most efficient offenses in the country.

Enough is enough. Mick needs to go

Don’t disagree RE: McCall.

Doesn’t mean Vandy has any meaningful academic restrictions in recruiting.

He doesn't have the horses right now.
This is a ridiculous take. Insert ANY D1 OC and it would be an upgrade. The word unimaginative is close when describing the offense gameplan but it doesn’t do it justice

Hmmmm, seems like we used to get the OL and WR horses. I didn’t realized that they increased the academic requirements for students hoping to play those positions.

It almost literally could not get worse. The offense scored a net of 1 point. Only a shutout would’ve been worse but no more demoralizing.

Hankwitz is really ****ing good.

With the implication that McCall is NOT and therefore should be replaced for someone who is. Hank proves that good coaching can turn lesser recruits into a top 25 defense. McCall is not capable of doing this on offense and therefore needs to go.

Sick and tired of every season getting off to a crappy start. This tired argument of not having the horses is caca. We have good recruits at skill positions. We have had decent recruits on the OL. I said recruits not players. Most teams have a weakness and you know what they figure something out to make it better. Might not be great, but better. NU does absolutely nothing to stem the tide. When you hope we just don’t give up points or go backwards. this is a big problem. It’s the same thing over and over on O every year. Sorry, the only thing consistent is the Coaches. Stop blaming the players when every year NU stinks on O.

You know damn well that this **** belongs on the rant board. Stop acting (like you accuse others) of being STUPID.

Honestly all McCall threads should be on the rant board.

It would lower the level of discourse there, but sometimes sacrifices need to be made.

Our OLine is getting destroyed in every game except UNLV. Perhaps as OC he is responsible. But they are not capable of doing their job no matter WHAT is called.

And our receivers are the same as since Carr. graduated. Maybe Mick's fault. Idk

So if we had Lincoln Riley coach the offense in spring ball, fall camp, and game plan and call the plays, are you saying NU offense would be as bad?
