Adrian Martinez with Maurice Washington in 14 games- 24 Touchdown passes.
Adrian Martinez without Maurice Washington in 11 starts - 7 Touchdown passes.
Mo caught 36 passes in 14 career games, averaging nearly 11 yards per catch, and 7 yards per carry. His presence alone changed the way teams defended Nebraska because they had to always account for him in the passing game.
Since Mo exited, Dedrick Mills, Wyatt Mazour, Rahmir, Marvin Scott, and Ronald Thompkins have combined for 44 catches and 100 less yards than Maurice had by himself on 8 less receptions. Washington also had 3 TD catches. The other 5 running backs have 0 combined Touchdown receptions.
Adrian has flaws. He's mistake prone and fumbles way too much. But Frost needs to hold up his end of the bargain with reflect to talent. Nebraska needs better skill talent period.
This scheme is designed to stress every level of the defense, both vertically and sideline to sideline. without players like Washington or true vertical threats at receiver, opponents are content to bracket Wandale and keep other dudes in front of them.
This team would benefit more from a transfer portal RB and WR.

I don't think you're going to find a transfer portal RB or WR with Washington's explosiveness. The part of the equation your are conveniently ignoring is that Adrian had Morgan AND Spielman when Adrian had Washington. IMO Morgan had a LOT to do with Adrian's effectiveness. I'm not sure we have to find transfer portal guys to fill those roles. I like what Oliver Martin showed and I think there's talent in that group of freshman RBs and WRs. We HAVE to have a normal spring and summer 7 on 7s for those guys to develop timing and chemistry.
I think this is the issue why it’s not working. We’re razor thin at the skill positions. We still haven’t filled Stanley Morgan’s void. What if Wandale gets injured? Sure in the PAC 10 injuries are less frequent due to the lack of physicality and that’s why it worked there. Plus, Oregon recruited better skilled players than what we have been doing. For this to work we need to recruit Ohio State level of talent at the skill positions and that’s not happening soon. And we need to restock the players in every recruiting class which hasn’t shown to be evident as of today. This is why I think we need to go back to the power game first. It’s our only chance to start building something special again, in my opinion.
Test scores are IN!! If we had a head coach that could evaluate anything properly perhaps we would have a "serviceable" QB coach?
